Tums Festival

Something to keep in mind. There are other bigs besides Ellenson and Stone at the top of the 2015 class.

Blue Devils Digest ‏@BlueDevilDigest  Apr 10
If Duke is looking for 2 bigs in 2015, I could see Stone and Ellenson emerging as major options. Stone already has a Duke offer.

I'm very curious about the dynamic between Coach K and Wojo.

Coach K knows he is almost done at Duke, and he obviously cares about the university and its basketball program a great deal. As a result, I would assume the Coach K has an idea of who he would like to see replace him when he retires. If that person is Wojo, he would have a vested interest in seeing him succeed at MU. Could that lead him to influence certain recruits to consider MU? Is that ethical? Is it counter to the spirit of competition?

Obviously this is all purely hypothetical speculation, but it is interesting nonetheless.

The problem with your reasoning IMO is that it assumes that Coach K wants to be replaced by a coach that he is not confident can do the job without his help.  Presumably when Coach K retires, he'll want to actually retire and not hang around holding Wojo's hand.  Which if he had to do when Wojo was at Marquette, he'll certainly have to do when Wojo is at Duke.
You actually have a degree from Marquette?

No...and after reading many many psosts from people on this board that do...I have to say I'm MUCH better off, if this is the type of "intelligence" a degree from MU gets you. It sure is on full display I will say that.

Nope. "Mikey K" has "star pupils" all over the NCAA. He's not secretly planning his retirement, spending the start of the recruiting period for Marquette rather than himself at Duke, and wasting time fishing. If he wanted to do some fishing with Wojo he wouldn't be doing it in North Woods, WI at a time of year there still may be snow. The guy is like 70, he'd much more likely be found in, well, North Carolina basking the sun with his free time.

This is absolutely silly. Right up there with people thinking Doc would quit his job as one of the 2 best coaches in the NBA, living in SoCal, making $7 million/year to come be Marquette's AD to convince Shaka Smart to coach Marquette or that Dick Bennett would come out of retirement to become the AD of the school that is the biggest rival of the school he took to a Final Four in order to convince his son to leave the program he just coached to an ACC regular season and tournament title and had a #1 seed in the NCAA Tourney.

Somebody in another thread asked if all posts should be screened through me first. With these kinds of posts (and it's not just you suggesting this, "rocket surgeon"), that would be quite a good idea. Could you imagine Duke, Wisconsin, or any other college basketball fans reading those things? If I were a fan of any other program I would be rolling around on my floor historically laughing. That is not how college athletics work. None of it.

easy wade, geezus.  you might want to get over yourself a little.  sorry, i probably should have put some of my comment in teal.  i believe some of you guys take yourselves a little too seriously.  didn't know you were the hall monitor, but i'll try to be more carefull next time ;D  wow

Yeah, he may just want to walk off into the sunset.

Also, I'm not suggesting that Coach K would "hold Wojo's hand" at MU to make him successful. I'm assuming that K wants Wojo to succeed, and wondering how much he would be willing to support Wojo at another school. He probably wouldn't do much, but provide moral support and advice when asked. However, I wonder if there is a scenario where Duke decides not to continue pursuing a recruit, and K points him in the direction of MU. I am honestly curious if a coach would do something like that.

Probably not.  The egos involved with these kids are ridiculous.  I don't think many of 18 year olds want to hear, "Well, you're not good enough for us, but Coach Wojo up at Marquette is a really great guy!"  I think the recruit would likely hate on Marquette moreso after that than give Marquette a good, hard look.

Now if Duke didn't extend an offer to a kid who wanted to go to Duke and the kid asked Duke's coaches how Wojo is as a coach and a guy I'm pretty sure they'd put in a very good word, but I doubt that happens much, if at all.

Ok, Park might stay.  But how about Jabari Parker?

Parker is out of his mind if he stays.
