I wonder if a stipulation of Wojo being the coach, was that Derrick not see the floor except for blowouts. If I was on the search committee, I would have asked if you see playing a pg who shoots 44% from the line and won't shoot outside of 3 ft.

Are you kidding. When interviewing a coach for a head job, a legitimate question is to ask him to slam a current player he has never met?

See the thread about CoWoJo having career averages of 5.4 pts and 3.9 assists.    He is simpatico with offensively challenged point guards.      Seriously, though, like with Buzz, I assume the decision will be made based on practice performance.

Derrick will not get off the bench if Wojo knows what's best for the program. He's by all accounts a great kid, just not a D 1 bball player. He can give his best effort, but you can't polish a turd.

I'm done beating up Derrick. He was put in a difficult situation. Not his fault that Brent insisted on playing him 38 minutes a game. Derrick has simply done the best he can...and so far, he has represented MU very well. If you want to rip someone, rip Brent for playing him so many minutes.

Derrick will be fine.  Here is a novel idea, maybe he improves a little over the summer?

One thing Duke does well is get shooters in a position to shoot.  I would anticipate this basic philosophy will be implemented here.  A pg who plays great defense and doesn't turn the ball over is a plus regardless of his FG percentage.  End of game situations will require Wojo to make sure we have FT shooters and ball-handlers on the court - I think Wojo can figure this all out over the summer.

So true.  I think he will be a nice role player, which is where he should be.  He will be a leader and defensive specialist.
