Coaching search stray thought

Marquette's men's basketball program is light years ahead of where it was 15 years ago.  Both of the coaches we've had during that rise in fortunes have left under circumstances that have left them reviled by fans to varying degrees.

Does this tell us anything about what we should be looking for in a coach who is likely to be successful?
