He definitely didn't buy any insurance on this one. I'm still pissed off at myself.  We pitched this very idea about 7 years ago here when I ran Mega March Madness product.  $1 billion for the perfect bracket.  We calculated the odds and were confident there was absolutely no way anyone could ever get it.  It died...couldn't get the support to do it and roll it out nationally.

I'll be curious to see if any one has all these picks right, I'm guessing there are still a few.

This is the year Wisconsin can get to the Final Four...ugh.

CBB:

I read that in the history of the internet about 200 million brackets have been filled out (ESPN, Yahoo, etc.) and that their has never been a perfect one.

Also told by a guy in the office that watches this that their are less than 10 perfect brackets left in Buffet's pool and those will probably get killed off before the end of the day.

Duke "crazies" are just a bunch of nerdy camera whores.

The whole jumping throughout the game thing is odd, at best. I always thought it was a bunch of people who needed to take a piss. Going to a game was throwing on a jacket, stuffing a bunch of Old Styles in various hiding spots then walking down to the Arena, hitting a few watering holes en route. Jumping up and down with a gut full of beer wasn't a good idea.

The average Duke student is a mouth breather to begin with. (Or a modestly-attractive porn star.) The former struggle with how to have a genuine good time since their "Cameron Crazy" stunts are contrived. At least the latter gets paid for her extra-curriculars.

I don't know about the $1B bracket, but ESPN is reporting there are still over 2,000 perfect brackets after Mercer won.

That's pretty impressive

Earl Tatum

How about JAKOB GOLLON!  From Stevens Point, Wis.,  20 pts, 5 rebs. and 3 assists.

Not sure how he would know the Buffett stuff yet...I thought it isn't released until tomorrow, but maybe it has.

A guy out here on the news did a quick study on if you were to put in a bracket every 30 seconds to cover all the possibilities of the 63 games to win the $1 billion how long would it take?  I can't remember the timing, but it was pretty crazy.  As long as you run a promo like this and limit when one can enter (say 2 or 3 days in advance), it doesn't seem possible.

Unless, some enterprising young lad figured out a way to upload every combination via computer and could do it without being caught (seems impossible).

In the ESPN pool, I had about 20,000 people pass me with the Mercer win. And I was inside the top 1.8% of all entries at the time. With millions of entries, even if only 5% of people pick Mercer.....

Earl Tatum

With 8 minutes left---Jeronne Maymon 11 pts and 11 rebs

That's really awesome.  I'm doing better in the yahoo pool than the espn pool.   If I am reading it right, the ESPN pool shows only about 60 people have all their picks correct as of right now.

My Gavin Orsay (house of cards) comment was an attempt at humor on this point.
