If you don't know, the Big East is slowly falling into A-10 status. Other than money, there's no reason for Smart to leave VCU. I hope he comes, but doubts it.

The BE has been down-talked and disrespected this whole season. Now with no team making the Sweet 16, it will only add to the negativity. At this rate, we might be happy getting two teams in the big dance, down the line.

The BE isn't what it used to be, and many recognize it. We need to schedule stronger non-conference games, and win them, to get our respect back.
I don't agree with your premise, and let's not write off money. Money IS the driving force for almost every coach. As for the new BE, no, it isn't what it used to be--no conference ever will be. Someone brought this comparison up earlier and blasted it for good reason. The new Big East is still a very good conference--you shouldn't overlook that because it's no longer the best college basketball conference in the universe.
