Now that Trevor has been cleared, here is my per game prediction for '07-'08 for avg minutes and avg production this year from MU:

          Mins, pts
DJ          30, 15
Jerel       26, 13
Wes        26, 12
Ous         26,  8
Fitz         18,  7
Lazar       24, 11
Cubes      10,  3
LB            4,  1
DB            4,  0

Necomers
Mo Ak        10, 4
TM           16, 6
SC            6, 2
PH            2, 0

This assumes no injuries and no red shirting.  If my prediction holds true MU will average 82 points per game, 10 more than last year.  It is not like we didn't already know it but there is going to be a huge fight for minutes at the guard spots.  I predict that this team will attempt to run other teams off the court and unless there is a dramatic improvement in outside shooting the 1/2 court game will still struggle.

Am interested to hear if anyone else has an opinion.

Based on reports of critical comments from our coach regarding Barro, I predict he's going to give a lot of his minutes to Mbawke - likely as a result of recruitment promises. At least that's what history has told us.

muwarrior87

that's a lot of points.  If we run like this team is set up to be able to do, I'd say pretty close, but we need to move the ball up and down well to get that kind of average points per game.

What was said and could you give a link to the reports?

PuertoRicanNightmare

Several posters reported that Crean was highly critical of Barro's recent efforts at the event at the Union League Club in Chicago. I was not in attendance.

It's deja vu for anybody who remembers the beginning of Joe Chapman's senior year.

I think history shows you play your best players.  The Big 3 stole some of Chapman's minutes because he was never going to be a huge contributor.  JC was more of a heart, soul, and hustle type of guy that hit the occasional 3; a guy every team needs but not a guy to take you to the promise land.

If Trevor outplays Barro he will get some of his minutes, if he doesn't he won't; I think it's that simple.  For the record, I think Barro will have roughly the same year he had last year playing about 5 less minutes and Trevor gets about 15-20 minutes a game.

I dunno... I mean history also has told us that Crean is loyal to seniors and they get their chances to play.

They were all seniors with somewhat marginal talent that got to play. (obviously the more talented seniors like deiner, novak, henry, etc. got their minutes as well)

Also, the mantra has always been that you earn your minutes in practice.

Anyways, if TM out performs Ous, so be it. Let TM take the minutes. I love Ous, but it's about winning, not about ego.

Secret of the Ouse

Ouse is also 3 inches taller with 3 more years experience in college, and 2 in the Big East against the likes of L'ville and G'town, which look to be our biggest competition in the BE this year and who are not skimpy when it comes to big men.  Ouse might lose some minutes early in Non-conference games to let TM develop, but we are going to need Ouse as much as ever come BE play.

I had TM for 16 minutes and 6 points per game averages.  Now that he is not going to play I will predict +6 minutes each for Burke and Hazel and +4 minutes for Ous. Unfortunately I don't see those minutes generating 3 more additional points. It takes us down to 79 points a game.

I remember that very well, TC was torn a new a$$ for it by some people too, but it worked as JC had a nice Sr year.  He also did it to JM in Canada, let's hope it has the same effect.  As for Ooze, I, as well, read comments like that from TC.  I think it was something about being too comfortable.  I see Ooze having a short leash early in the season.

I don't get it..., were he available, Mbakwe's best use would have been as a 4, alongside Ouse..., if he could keep up!  Then we could have a 'different look'  when needed- we could 'go big'!

bilsu

There is no way James plays 30 minutes a game. First of all he does not have to because we have Acker. Second of all he still has problems with leg cramps. Finally, when his play starts hurting the team, he will be replaced by Acker. He averages 25 minutes tops.

Doctor V

If James doesnt average 30 mins a game, atleast in all the big games, and atleast 15 pts a game this team will not be as effective.

He is and needs to be the man again, and he will
