Coach Norman Dale

from ESPN/Andy Katz:

Arizona coach Lute Olson will take an indefinite leave of absence to deal with a personal matter, Olson's family spokesperson Gordon James told ESPN.com Sunday.

James said that it is not a health issue. He said the 73-year-old Olson should be back soon. In the interim, Arizona was expected to announce that assistant Kevin O'Neill would take over beginning with Sunday's exhibition game with Concordia University in Tucson.

James said he wanted the public and media to respect Olson's privacy while dealing with the family matter.

How dare he keep it private!?!?!   Internet jock sniffers need to know all!

On a side note, how many Ts will KO get with the new no swearing policy?

Despite the short period, looks like KO finally got his dream job!

Speculation on the UA board is that it may be for the some of the same reasons Ryne Sandberg retired prematurely the first time in 1994.

Palmero was banging Rynos wife back in the 80's and was immediately traded away there after.

Eye are you sure you don't mean the reason why Michael Jordan left the game for a few years.  I've always heard that David Stern didn't want to suspend the face of the league for gambling so he and Jordan agreed upon a "retirement".

I have absolutely no knowledge of the situation one way or the other. Just reporting that some of the more reputable posters on a couple of the U of A boards, where I hang out once in a while, too, were "hinting" that it may be some problems involving his marriage.

Titan, you hit the MJ story on the head. The baseball story was a ruse.
