As a Milwaukee Native and a Duke/UW Alum, I feel the need to congratulate you all on a big win.  If Duke has to lose, at least it was to Marquette (not to mention this will help UW's RPI - ;) ).

A couple of things I want to note after reading some posts.

Paulus is returning from an injury.  I don't believe he was scared or what not.  He got torched tonight, but there is some explanation for it.  Still, dealing with quick guards like y'all got will be tough for Duke all season.

Duke runs a pretty fluid offense.  They kept going to McRoberts down-low because K has been trying to get him to be more aggressive offensively.  Even Vitale, that flaming idiot, was talking about how he needs to take more shots.  Coach K coaches for March (with a couple of games against Carolina thrown in), so it was normal for him to do something like this, even at the expense of winning this game.  I guess he was hoping McRoberts would make some of those baskets.  11-0 run, damn.  Guess I wouldn't have minded a little more Nelson or Scheyer.

I didn't know James was such a monster.  Wow.  And were the announcers really mispronouncing his name the entire time?

I really felt good about Duke's chances at halftime, but MU really exploited Duke's youth.

Anyway, congrats.  There were some questions about a Duke basketball board.  www.dukebasketballreport.com was at one time the king, but I think some traffic has been sucked away by the business sites.  Still, you may want to check it out.  Else the Scout one is somewhat respected.  Frankly, I got sick of all of them a long time ago.

Looking forward to the MU/UW tilt.  Happy Thanksgiving.

Thanks for coming in BlueBadgerDevil!

It was a very very tough game against you guys.  You will certainly be a force to reckon with come March - I'm not sure if I want to see a rematch in the tourney!

Regarding Paulus, even with the injury he was quite forminable last night.  While I am not his biggest fan I was dissapointed to see the duke message board throw him under the bus so to speak. McRoberts was definitely an inside threat.. if he develops like coach k wants him to then the ncaa world better watch out.  Please oh please get someone to tell him to stop shouting F%&K everytime something goes against them.  Us lip-reading folk don't miss such things and it only makes him look rattled.

You are right about Duke's chances at halftime.  We were taking very very little solace in the fact that we were up by two.  Even being up by 10 with 2 minutes left didn't seem like enough (I saw Duke beat Maryland after being down by 10+ with around a minute left).  My only hope was that my suspicion about duke getting tired would come true.

Hope to see you again through the season (especially when we play UW).  Best of luck to your blue devils!

It must take that serious of a drubbing to sound real humbled like that.

That guy has two things going against him: He's a Duke AND a UW alum.

What's up with that?!?

Nah, I'm always humble.  It's just basketball.

Paulus - his defense was horrid last year, but was covered up by Shelden Williams and his teammates.  This year he doesn't have that, and it shows.

McRoberts - he is a force when he wants to be.  Towards the end of the game (perhaps because he was tired) he was putting up some weak, weak shots although he was getting decent looks.  He needs to go up stronger and rise to his potential.  I agree with you about his demeanor.  I'm worried that he simply isn't a hard-nosed, gamer type.  K has to find a way to light a fire under him.

You're right though, its still very early, and Duke is real young.

I think Marquette, Duke, and UW all have pretty good chances at a Final Four.

Duke - Undergrad, UW - Law (yet another reason to hate me, I know)

muole

nah, it's good to have you.  everybody needs a good lawyer at some point.  like, perhaps, if you were to get hit by a bus.

BBD, thanks for stopping by.  I always enjoy reading posts from the "other" side when they aren't part of some ridiculous arguments gone over and over again.  Hopefully you'll check back in during UW-MU week.
