The Texas Rangers have to be loving this more than anyone as $21 million dollars just became freed up.

I'd love for him to come to my beloved Cubs but I can't see them spending the money with the change in ownership.  The Mets and Angles could afford him and I think he wants as far away from NY as possible so I believe he will end up with the Angels.

I'm guessing he will end up with the Angels.  Laid back, Vlad has been out there for years tearing things up in the regular season and crap in the playoffs.....A-Rod should fit right in.  They can afford him and they need power in the line up.  Also Boras can get so many other media funded opportunities to make A-Rod fat with cash.  Plus there wouldn't be much media pressure out there.  No way he goes to the Cubs...they won't pay plus he doesn't want to be in that pressure cooker.
"A Plan? Oh man, I hate plans. That means were gonna have to do stuff. Can't we just have a strategy......or a mission statement."

Tigers or Giants

$35M per, easy.

The Cubs could easily get ARod. However, ownership uncertanity will cause big problems. ARod has openly stated that Lou Pinella is like a father figure to him. Could be possible he could give the Cubs a discount to play for Lou, but I doubt it would be anything stellar. Plus, he's a Boras player.

Also, the Cubs have bigger fish to fry in the offseason than a SS. Shoring up LF, CF,another #2-#3 rotation pitcher, and one guy in the pen.

Dreaming of ARod though:

Soriano, LF
DeRosa, RF
ARod, SS
ARam, 3B
Lee, 1B
Soto, C
(Pie/Other CF(ROWAND!))
Theriot, 2B

Unlikely...our owner won't spend the money on one player, he's already stated it a few times.  I doubt the Halos.

I'm with NY Warrior, A-Rod is a Tiger next year.

Heard a good point from a Washington fan today.  No way it will happen but say your a small market team like Washington who has a payroll of 40 million.  Offer A-Rod 50 million and your team payroll is still only at 90 million.  They'd still be in the lower half of the Major Leagues in spending.

The only way I see him coming to the Cubs is if he gives Lou a fatherly figure discout as marqptm referenced.

MileHigh

I wonder if the Yankees would make a bid for him.  Even though they said they would not negotiate, I think there might be talks, especially if Rivera and Posada come back.

SoCalwarrior

I think he's a Dodger.

By the way, a friend of mine in NY emailed the NY Post for a cover page suggestion after he opted out...  "A Hole at Third"

I know it's collusion, but I hope the other owners get together and tell the Pirates and Royals they're the only ones allowed to bid on this egocentric jerk. The teams can all chip in on his salary so Boras can't scream when Pittsburgh or KC offers him what he wants. I have had as many clutch hits in the playoffs the last three years as ARod.
