...if this has been stated elsewhere, but we are on the front page of espn.com

but getting dissed on the ESPN TV network...

The did mention the game, but it was because the McRoberts dunk was #2 in the top10  >:(  Bastards...

AlpineWarrior

Actually, if you stayed up to watch the late night Sportscenter (I live on the west coast) MU-Duke led off the show. So the Warriors are getting some due respect by ESPN. Leading on Sportscenter and ESPN.com considering all of the other sports stories is very respectable.

rocky_warrior

Yup...I've seen it a couple times now.  Was just disappointed that the first thing they aired was the Duke ally-oop :(

SoCalstu09

Does anyone know anything about the comment, "this one had lots of interest from the folks in Durham, NC and also the fifth floor of Schroeder in Milwaukee" ???

Seems pretty bizarre that an analyst on ESPN knows the dorms at MU. I was sitting here on the sixth floor of Schroeder, listened to that comment, walked down to the fifth floor (girls floor), NOTHING GOING ON!!!

That being said, the guys on six were representing the out of region students (everyone went home for thanksgiving break!) GO MU! Beat Valpo!

Hopefully they got some MU highlights in there.  I remember last year's win over Pitt where they showed 3 highlights, all Pitt.  LOL.

MU gimp ONE

I was actually really impressed with the highlights on sportscenter and the love they showed MU.  we led off the show and all the clips were of Marquette plays except the freak "kick in" basket and mcroberts dunk.  those were good plays so, ill allow them.

I must also say that i was pleased with the announcing job by Dukie V.  of course i was getting tired of hearing about McRoberts passing ability, but he showed a ton of love our way.  He talked the sophs and Cubie up more than anyone and wouldn't stop about Al and TC.  It almost made hearing his annoying voice worth it.

I just don't understand all this whining about ESPN and their take on the game.  Now I hate ESPN as much as anybody here.  Their liberal bias on shows like Sportsreporters drives me absolutely nuts.  Not to mention that idiot Olbermann on Dan Patrick's ESPN radio show.

BUT the coverage of the game last night was very fair, imo.  Vitale gave tons of credit to the Warriors and James, in particular.  As far as the highlights go, that reverse-dunk WAS the most spectacular play of the game.  IMO, I don't even think MU played that great a game.  The defensive rebounding and shot selection  both need work, not to mention the FT shooting.  The fact the Warriors still won the game is a very good sign.

Hey, I lived on the 5th floor of schroeder.  Schroeder Hall was the dorm where all of the TV were ripped out of the wall and thrown through the window in '77.  It evidently was quite a party.  That could be why the analyst knows the name.

That's some nice info I'd never heard before and you won't find anywhere else.  You should post it in the Wiki.

SoCalwarrior

Speaking of the Wiki, I've added the AP recap to each game under the 2006 portion of the schedule.  I thought it would be cool to document the season all in one place.  I left a section for the box score in each in case anyone ever gets bored and wants to finish it.

Cool thanks, I was thinking about doing that.  We'll probably need to either re-name the recaps with a date (including the year), or move them to their own "namespace" to avoid naming conflicts in the future.  But that's not too hard either way...

Willie-
"That idiot Olbermann", huh?  And how did you rate the failed Rush Limbaugh experiment on Monday Night Football awhile back?

Your comments regarding ESPN's coverage last night, imo, are right on.  Your politics belong elsewhere.

More love from ESPN...

On ESPNNews last night, they had "#17 MU beats #8 Duke" in their breaking news box from about 11pm to 1:30am ct.  Yeah... i was up and couldn't fall asleep.   ;D

I am certain that Dickie V was not even at the game...the boys at ESPN just take voice clippings from the years past and splice them all together.

You will hear the same things over and over....

I get it--Crean has a relation to the Harbaugh family!!

Also, Dickie V made it sound as if MU hadn't heard of James before last nights game...he said something like, 'Marquette fans are going to love this kid, he is going to bring them something very special this year.'  That alone is proof--that clip was taken from a game last year.

spiral97

oh no.. he was there.. we saw him..

BUT there was someone standing behind him and I could swear I would see him reach down to the middle of V's back and pull back a string......
