Our best win thus far--GWU--could do us some favors down the stretch here.

GW's RPI sits at #29 right now according at CBS Sports and their next four games are:

@VCU (#28 RPI)
UMASS (#11 RPI)
@Richmond (#45 RPI)
@ St. Louis (#16 RPI)

Gooooo, gooooooo, go-Colonials, go-go-go.

[Wish I didn't have to post this, but this is where we are right now]

Wow.  Tough stretch.  You are right, we need them to win at least one of those.  Preferably two.

It looks like Richmond wants to pass the audition.  What a turnaround if they make the NCAA and we don't.
You actually have a degree from Marquette?

No...and after reading many many psosts from people on this board that do...I have to say I'm MUCH better off, if this is the type of "intelligence" a degree from MU gets you. It sure is on full display I will say that.

LloydMooresLegs

I'll be joining 6 or 7 Marquette classmates to root on the Colonials and MU High grad John Kopriva Jr. at SLU on 2/22!  Great year for the Colonials.

Still do not consider George Washington a quality win, but many scoopers like to hang the old jock on them as being one.

The #29 RPI is a good win.  If they make the elite 1-25 grouping it's all the better.  Just need to add about three more to the top 50 group - beating Creighton or Villanova would do that.  Then we're rooting for Xavier to stay there or Georgetown or St. John's to move up into there but not take a tournament spot ahead of us.

It's all up to Marquette winning the majority of their remaining games (including X and Creighton) or winning the BE tourney.

It won't mean jack crap what George Washington does.

Obliterated by VCU.

Next!

Watched most of the second half... GW clawed back to within 5 with 9 minutes left, but then VCU then hit 4 threes in about 90 seconds.  Ballgame.

Sidenote... VCU's crowd support is very impressive, wild and loud.  They have a great setup with the seats seemingly right on top of the court.  I love that we have capacity for 18k+, but would be nice if our next arena was built for hoops, not hockey.

wardle2wade

Check that, I didn't realize VCU's crib is only 7600... that explains a lot.  That arena would be hard to replicate that with our large fanbase.

Yes, if we win out we are good.  However, if we do just well enough to be on the bubble it will be another story.  If GW falls apart to end the season and we are on the bubble that will hurt our chances.

madtownwarrior

Seriously - if our tourney hopes hinge on George Washington winning a few games, game over...

I agree with the general idea that what Marquette does determines what Marquette gets.

But perhaps a nuance...if we go 5-2 or 6-1 over the last 7 with say, 1-1 or 0-1 in the BET (meaning 1 quality win over either Creighton or Villanova)...so 20-13 or 20-12 ...then we could be judged by quality wins.

Note: I personally think we don't get in with 13 losses.

PGsHeroes32

Or we could just have GW keep losing because they simply are not very good and then we still there bid?

I'm sure that's just a cute expression you wanted to use... but regardless, bubble teams get in based on their resume.  Like it or not, the A10 is competitive, and GW could be a very nice win at the end of the year... or it could be an average win.  MU can use any polish to the resume they can get this year.  Obviously winning games ranks #1.

Right, who said anything about MU's tourney hopes "hinging" on GW's success. They can certainly help us, that can't be denied.
