Butler's Mentality
« on: January 14, 2014, 09:06:20 PM »
So Dougie McBuckets is in the middle of making Butler his b!tch. (It is halftime and McDermott alone has scored as much as the entirety of Butler). Assuming the score holds, Butler will be entering their matchup with us with a 0-5 conference record. Not gonna lie, this terrifies me. Butler will be at home, frustrated, and staring down the barrel of an 0-6 record. So do we think:

A) A blowout loss to Creighton will break the Bulldogs' back and make them give up hope on this season
B) A fifth straight loss will further peeve the Bulldogs and they will take out all their frustration on us
C) It doesn't really affect our game

I'm really worried it's going to be B

What's the return window on "No Bad Losses" banners?

Past history of things like those would generally indicate it is going to be choice B. I look at the Butler lineup and they still have a few guys that will give us some trouble. The only good thing about it is that Jake should be able to get his shot off a little more.

They don't have many guys that can beat their man off the bounce, need to be assignment sure and not let their Caucasians get hot from three.

Lets see who they beat on the road...they have played none of there tough road games, they will finish with at least 4 league losses.

Creighton looks unstoppable in this league.

An All-American surrounded by 3-point bombers will do that.

It's going to suck for Jays fans when they roll into the second weekend with 29 wins and then convert only four of their 31 shots behind the arc in an upset loss.

This is the only scouting report people need to read before the Butler game. Spot on.

Not sure about this. I would take the Badgers offense over Creighton's any day of the week. UW actually has an interior threat with Kamisky and Hayes in addition to their perimeter guys.

Butler is simply awful....like DePaul awful.

Butler has played in 5 OT games.
They lost to the #5 team in the country by 2.
They are 3 points away from being 3-2 in the conference.

They will be hungry for a win Saturday and it wont be easy for MU.

You must not have watched Butler play versus Oklahoma State, LSU, Villanova, Vandy, Purdue this year. There not too bad.

Creighton only attempts 5% more 3s than Wisconsin, as a percentage of total shots and also shoot 3-4% better.  So its not like they are jacking up more 3s, and also hit them at a higher rate.

As for Kaminsky and Hayes, Hayes is averaging 6 pts a game and is hardly a consistent threat.  And if you look at Kaminsky against the higher caliber teams with legit inside players, he has scored the majority of his points outside.  Florida 6 of 8 pts were from 3.  Iowa, all 9 from 3.  Exceptions were last night, but he scored a chunk when Vonleh was out, the Illinois game which was just a mess, and WV/SLU who don't have true defensive big men.  He's a dangerous player cause he's shooting such a high clip from outside, but as for being a dynamic inside threat?  I don't see that being an issue against big men like Payne or Amir Williams in B10 play.  Id argue that Bergerren was more of an interior threat.
