Big East Standing and Competition
« on: January 12, 2014, 03:25:18 PM »
Now that we are 4 games into the Big East I think it is time we start focusing on the competition and how we can do. I think this conference is wide open from top to bottom. I have seen every team play and the conference seems pretty closely bunched. For example last night Butler and Georgetown played a very exciting overtime game. Georgetown pulled it out, Butler was right there though and they are going to be very tough to beat at home. I think it will be good for the conference if Villanova keeps winning , although I don't think they are materially better than any of the teams in this league.

I know we got smoked by Creighton but I think that was a special circumstance given it was their first Big East game. The thing I like about this new conference is the home and home aspect and that we will get another shot at them. We have to be very focused on winning our home conference games . Every single road game is going to be tough.

with creighton's win vs xavier today, creighton and nova seem to be legit at the top 2. will be interesting to see who wins when they play each other on 1/20.

3 of butler's first 4 league games have gone to ot, so i their 0-4 is not as bad as it looks.

i feel like 3rd place is open.

When one of those losses is blowing a lead at home to DePaul, it's bad.

Butler looked strong against Georgetown, Depaul is better than they have been in years.

The Creighton loss was not a special circumstance--unless you consider an ass kicking a special circumstance. We will be lucky if we win two road games this year.

Every single road game is going to be tough. In order to win on the road we are going to have to be able to put up some offensive runs to take the crowd out of the game. So far we have not been able to do that.

Says a lot for the league though, when the team in last place in our league would be 6th or 7th in the B10.

Yeah  - That loss cost me $500 - was incredulous watching Butler give up an 11 point lead with 3:00 minutes left.  On another note, perhaps DePaul is turning the corner a little and our struggle to beat them at home may not be as alarming.

I'm going to the Villanova game, and it's almost comforting going to a game expecting that we will lose, and if somehow we beat Nova, that would just be a very pleasant surprise.
"I'm not sure Cadougan would fix the problems on this team. I'm not even convinced he would be better for this team than DeWil is."

The Butler point guard forced the ball at the end too many times and kept missing.
