This says a lot about what Buzz requires from his players to get minutes

"Buzz Williams following Marquette Men's Basketball's 91-53 victory over Ball State on the progression of freshman Jajuan Johnson (pictured): "I told Jajuan (during the second half) that in your 11th game (tonight) it's the first time that your body language projects confidence.""

Yeah, I'd agree with that.  It's like he's figuring it out.  He has ENORMOUS potential.

He reminds me of VB in many ways, but with better overall basketball skills. He has high ceiling IMO.

They both had/have funky-looking jumpers, that's for sure.

similar releases, yes. but vander's shot was always very flat, like a line drive. JJJ seems to have a higher arc, which hopefully will result in higher %...

Both big, big time athletes and JJJ looks to be a more pure basketball player at this stage to me. Was big VB fan and think JJJ will have better career than Vander at MU.

The player I thought Jajuan Johnson could come close to replicating in style & production before he started was Jeremy Lamb.

Here's Lamb's freshman season game log:

http://statsheet.com/mcb/players/player/connecticut/jeremy-lamb/game_stats?season=2010-2011&stat_type=1&game_type=1&chart1=minutes&chart2=points&chart3=assists&chart4=rebounds_total&chart5=

Rocky start, flashes of potential, up and down for most of the season in terms of both minutes and production... then it finally clicked and came together in March.

Not saying Jajuan will be Jeremy Lamb, just that I see similarities in their lanky build and scoring style. Who knows, he could end up logging 0 minutes vs. good conference competition. He could also start to put it together and be a reliable ousitde/slashing scorer we need. No guarantee, but I think we start to see Jake's minutes trend down and Jajuan's trend up. Not knocking Jake, just that Jajuan's ceiling is super high, and if it clicks for him sooner rather than later it will be a no-brainer to play him 20+ minutes no matter who the opponent is.
