Saw that. Granted, just his first game, but I'm really looking forward to following this kid for the next decade or so.

TAMU, Knower of Ball

Not bad for first game of HS ball. Buzz may have locked up a gem

Nick and Philip might get a few vadger fans on our side in 2017

Not likely, MU getting good players from Wisco's "territory" will just lead to accusations from them of various nefarious things.
You actually have a degree from Marquette?

No...and after reading many many psosts from people on this board that do...I have to say I'm MUCH better off, if this is the type of "intelligence" a degree from MU gets you. It sure is on full display I will say that.

surprised no one mentioned this yet, but philip here comes from some pretty good stock as his father-mike-a 6'5" shooter from rhinelander, wi. played for our warriors from 1987-89.  if philip were to approach anything near his fathers talent, we'll have a tough/scrappy shoota.  on mothers day 1988-was hit head on in car crash-broke right ankle and foot, left wrist and facial lacerations, but recovered for the 1988-89 season in which he avg'd 12.5 ppg and 5.5 rpg

It has been mentioned.    I was a fan of his dad.
Luke 6:45   ...A good man produces goodness from the good in his heart; an evil man produces evil out of his store of evil.   Each man speaks from his heart's abundance...

It is better to be fearless and cheerful than cheerless and fearful.

the concern always is  when you get a commitment so early from these "kids", how solid is the agreement?  can either back out at any time as many things can happen over the next four years.  how many times have we seen these kids change their allegiance?  does anyone know the "rules of engagement" when a player gives a verbal?

Yeah, his Dad was pretty good. A lefty assassin, much like Anglavar and Rosie, although Rosie had the benefit of playing on some stud teams.

Some great lefties MU has had:
Rosie
Anglavar
Trevor Powell
Kerry Trotter
Benny Moore
Walter Downing
and probably one or two I am missing. Cannot remember if Russ Wittenberger was a lefty.
I thought you were dead. Willie lives rent free in Reekers mind. Rick Pitino: "You can either complain or adapt."

The verbal commitment is as ironclad as the parchment it's written on.

Until he signs in November 2016, either party may back out.

DJO is the best lefty we've had!!

Being a legacy I feel pretty good about this one. Lets hope he blossoms, from all reports the kid is pretty good right now.

There was a nine page thread about his commitment that answered all of your questions and lots more.

http://www.muscoop.com/index.php?topic=39631.0

In that thread, it was mentioned that he and his Dad have often come to Marquette games and he was playing a pickup game with the team as an incoming HS freshman when Buzz offered, so I'm, feeling pretty good about this commitment sticking.

yeah, how could I forget DJO. Not sure he was the best though. Powell and Trotter were pretty good although at different positions.

I loved Trevor Powell.  But he wasn't the player DJO was.  He was a solid guy on some really bad Marquette teams....but that's about it.

True.   And maybe the only "great" on that list.  Walter Downing?  Please.  KT, Trevor Powell and Anglavar would be in the MU Hall of the Very Good.
