Whether or not the Bucks leave, the BC needs a remodel, and not just the floor. One of the uglier NBA stadiums.

If the Bucks leave, the BC is fine for what it would be used for....minor league hockey and college basketball.

The BC is really not that bad, you get to watch basketball and they have an excellent beer selection for an arena... check and check

By their very nature/definition, shouldn't these "OT" threads be started/placed in the superbar? i'm just trying to understand the mindset of putting them here...

Yes, they should be in the superbar...though now that it's about the benefits to Marquette about having them in town, I'll leave it here (plus, it's the off season still :( )

Adam Silver would seem to disagree with you:

compared to the staples center the BC sucks, but I can't say that I would be more or less interested to go to either just because of the building.  Really doesn't mean much unless you are in a luxury box.  Its not like I'm going to a Laker game to see staples, I might go to a cubs game to see Wrigley on the other hand.

It's only "unfit" because it doesn't generate enough revenue for the Bucks.

The seating configuration is all wrong - remember this is a hockey arena whose two primary tenants are basketball teams. The Kohl Center has a better configuration that the BC. Also, the concourses are quite narrow. So even for MU it's not great.
But I like to throw handfuls...

Yes, you are technically correct.

However, the Bucks (& the NBA) weren't bitching about that back in 1990.

They are bitching about it now because they need more money.

Hope they didn't spend more than a buck fifty on this beauty.

It might be a poor NBA arena.  But it is just fine for MU.

A bad seat is a bad seat--regardless if pro or college.

Upper level at the BC is brutal.

Depends a lot on the section. The baseline uppers are pretty abominable, though.

It took me 2 minutes to figure out where the highlight of the design where the M is.  Not bad but I really fail to see the Robert Indiana inspiration, not sure why they needed his permission.

BC is ok in the lower and on the side lower in upper deck, sat in the upper corners for a couple years during the Dukiet years, bad seats and bad teams.

No, I'm not insane. You're wrong. Brandon Knight seems very happy and Larry Sanders spends a lot of time in Milwaukee and just signed an extension. Also, John Henson doesn't seem to be in a hurry to get out of town.

I agree with you that Sanders and Henson really look like guys who could grow in this city. They have done an obnoxious amount of community events over the summer and really want to be the face of the city. Ray Allen, Charlie Bell, Andrew Bogut (before things fell apart), Desmond Mason, and others were guys who truly liked the city. If they can ever change the culture, players will play here.

I disagree we are going to tank next year. A healthy Sanders will win you 30 games based on d alone. We won't be more than a 4 and out playoff team, but you don't spend 8 mil on Butler if you are tanking.

As for the court, it is underwhelming due to the hype. That said, I really like it. You have to consider the Bucks to be extremely limited in what the NBA would allow. It's unique and classy. I give it a thumbs up.

I hate Staples Center.  If you are in great seats, it is fine and I'm fortunate enough to get those tix if I go (usually to hockey, seldom to NBA), but the verticality of the bowl I don't care for.  The diehards are way up top like steerage.  I know that's why they are called the cheap seats, but it is so L.A. and standoffish in my opinion.  I prefer the Honda Center much more.  Not as nice, fewer amenities, but people in the cheap seats don't need an oxygen mask.

Underwhelming to be sure.  A city like Milwaukee with a franchise that barely measures 20 miles outside the city should want a floor that screams something loud.  They are totally invisible nationally, for good reason.  They need something that pops or is way out there.  The Celtics, Lakers, etc...they can be boring, but the Bucks need something.  This isn't it.

I'm sure they tried but Adam Silver probably thought otherwise. I know they asked for special permission for even going as "radical" as they did.

Reminds me of when they were going to introduce a new logo with the old red and green color scheme...and all they did was substitute red for the purple on the old logo.

Over promise...under deliver.  The Kohl-era Bucks in a nutshell.

They are invisible nationally because they're mediocre and have no star players. No "out there" floor is going to overcome that.

Not suggesting it will overcome that....totally agree with you.  However, I am suggesting it can get you noticed.  Boise State had a pretty pedestrian football team, but they somewhat became known for having a blue field, which they adopted 25 years ago after making the jump up from a JUCO.  The purpose...to be different and get noticed.

It's all marketing and if you are bad, sometimes you need something else to get people to notice.  It's why so many advertisers use hot chicks in ads about something that has absolutely nothing to do with hot chicks....people notice.
