There were witnesses who claimed Fields never went for the gun and that any physical action was more between Fields and a friend rather then Fields and a cop.

not sure where you saw the 90 days probation.  this article says it is 9 month probation...

still doesn't say what Pitt's punishment in the situation will be.  It will be interesting to see if they end up evoking a serious penalty or a more UW-Madison type penalty.

Hmmm, as I read this part of the article, he's back in the program, will be practicing, and likely playing unless he doesn't comply to the rules "within the confines" of Pitts program 

Fields had not been involved in team workouts since his arrest, but will be able to participate now, an school spokesman said.

"We have let the judicial process run its course and acknowledge today's decision," Dixon said. "Levance has been, and will continue to be, held to our team's disciplinary standards. Those disciplinary actions will remain within the confines of our program."

Donno if I'm right, but it sounds like Dixon is going to let the court's punishment be the only punishment.

Somehow, 9 months of probation would seem to dictate some on-court penalty ala Lance Smith of UW football.  Let fields play in home games but be suspended for road games (hmmm, MU does not play @ Pitt this season...)...!! 8)
