TAMU, Knower of Ball

Coach Cal won't be on that list once his most recent championship is vacated...like all his other successful seasons

Fortunately, another Bleacher Report article on the prospects next year for the top 20 coaches doesn't mention Buzz.  Put that chip right back on your shoulder MU!
You actually have a degree from Marquette?

No...and after reading many many psosts from people on this board that do...I have to say I'm MUCH better off, if this is the type of "intelligence" a degree from MU gets you. It sure is on full display I will say that.

I would say the hiring of Buzz should be ranked even higher.  Miller, Crean and Calipari were proven commodities that would have been top candidates for any opening.  All were essentially no brainer hires for those programs.  Even Smart had a strong resume as an assistant for top programs.  Buzz was almost completely unkown and the hiring was criticized by many.

1. Explain your thinking on this: Smart was an assistant at Akron, Clemson and Florida and you say he "had a strong resume as an assistant for top programs."  Buzz was assitant at Texas A&M, HC at UNO, and an assistant for Marquette making him "almost a complete unknown."

The implication here is that you feel MU and Texas A&M aren't "top programs." In all fairness, both were nearly equal in terms of high-major experience.

2. Why should hiring a proven commodity result in a penalty when determining if the school made a great hire?  All other things being equal, landing a proven commodity is a smarter move and should be ranked higher.

Shaka Smart should have been #1 and Buzz #3.

One of those people you mention was supposed to be fired last year according to the wise men here. The other was considered not all that great when brought up as a replacement at MU back in 2008 according to the wise.

All that being said, I don't disagree with what you are saying but I do find it interesting that some of those guys are still doing just fine and kicking despite prognostications here.
