But Fair wasn't considered a guaranteed first-round pick, and the uncertainty of his draft position plus the potential to improve his game sent him back to central New York.

"It's definitely a tough decision," he said. "Growing up, the NBA always was my goal. So to see it right there and have your first real chance of getting there, it's hard for me to reconsider and wait another year. You get really excited when it's this close but you also have to come back to reality."

Fair said he believes he can become a better overall player and also needs, he said, to work on his ballhandling skills.

Wish Blue had thought this way!

Good decision! Cuse should be good best year.

Vander is making a big mistake!  My early prediction is he'll be touring Europe in a bus full of swarthy Turks (and maybe some goats and chickens).

Or maybe Vander will get drafted and make an impact, sign a contract and continue from there.  In the meantime perhaps Fair will get injured and have a disappointing season.

With the weak draft, and what seems like a ton of people ranked ahead of him staying in school, things are working out nicely for Blue.   You have to believe that all these players talk about this stuff before making a decision right?

I'm guessing that you're not going to bet on that happening, though.
You actually have a degree from Marquette?

No...and after reading many many psosts from people on this board that do...I have to say I'm MUCH better off, if this is the type of "intelligence" a degree from MU gets you. It sure is on full display I will say that.

Given that Fair is a better prospect than Vander, this has to help Blue at least a little for draft position.

Of course, it also shows Fair is getting better advice about his NBA game-readiness than Vander is.

Nah, I'd prefer to see it work out.  Not a gambling man :)
