Completely ignoring the political aspect of things I think we are China. We are a potential Superpower, with an amazing, but often overlooked, history. I wish there was a better example, but completely ignoring the awfulness of China's government and looking at it from a purely analytic standpoint, I think it's a perfect fit.

Probably a pretty good analogy, since if we keep Buzz around we'll own Georgetown before too long....
