Frozena "We Are Marquette". Jamil Wilson.

Fulce "WDYL 1%" award. Mayo.

Butler only now exists award. Junior. Who gives it to Juan.

I was wondering about Juan getting shut out.
You actually have a degree from Marquette?

Quote from: muguru
No...and after reading many many psosts from people on this board that do...I have to say I'm MUCH better off, if this is the type of "intelligence" a degree from MU gets you. It sure is on full display I will say that.

Most Improved. Blue.

+1 If you told me at the beginning of the season that he'd be a first-round pick at the end of the year, I'd be shocked.

TallTitan34

DJO Sacrafice for the string award. Juan.

MVP. Blue.

Character Revealed award. Junior.

I'd still be shocked.

Thanks, TT.  I think I've figured out most of them, but what do these 2 awards mean?

Past team mottos/slogans/sayings/catchphrases

WDYL = Where Do You Live
1% = get 1% better every day
Only Now Exists = Only Now Exists

And then there's my favorite: GTST = Grind Together, Shine Together

I was going to go with 'Creepy guy on his phone all night' award.

Nailed it.

Giving outgoing players the most complimentary awards to motivate next years guys and show them how much room there is at the top of the roster award. Buzz.

This didn't need to be in teal. I guess if you are having an "awards" banquet you need to fill the time somehow.

Wade Legacy of Leadership Award - Derrick Wilson
I think you meant Derick Anderson. I'm expecting big things from him this year.

TallTitan34

During the defensive player of the year speech by Trent he told a story about how the week before the Miami game him and Vander had been preparing to guard individual players. The entire week Trent was prepping on guarding Scott. Then right before tip of the Miami game the coaches tell him that he and vander are switching defensive assignments.

Everything turned out alright.

MarsupialMadness

Thanks for the updates Tall Titan!

Was there any mention of Vander leaving the team?  Just wondering if he had a "goodbye speech" or anything like that?  Or was that purposedly not brought up?

TallTitan34

Yeah it was brought up by Autry, Buzz, and the host.

Vander talked about it in his MVP speech. Said it was a difficult week. It really hit him at the awards banquet seeing how its a family at MU. Said he was never going to Wisconsin which got a big cheer. He also said the team would be better next year without him taking the shots. The crowd shot that idea down immediately. Thanked everyone.

madtownwarrior

when  Vander received the MVP award, he did talk about his decision, how Marquette prepared him to have the opportunity, and what marquette meant to him.

Wainright - hilarious, who knew?

Kilcoyne - very funny, better MC than past years

Autry -  we joked he should have been a TV Evangelist, has a gift for speaking - ran down a highlight of every player for the year off the top of his head in great detail (like knowing the exact time in the game)

Buzz - wife said - if anybody does not realize what MU has in Buzz after hearing him speak at the team banquets, they need to be questioned, his "tribute" to Junior was amazing

Davante - quite the ham, loves attention, personal favorite on the team

Weird seeing 4 players up there that normally would be coming back that are not

When he was coaching at DePaul I would listen to his radio show on 670 The Score because it was pretty much him doing stand up the whole time.  Awesome guy.

Chicos' Buzz Scandal Countdown

Anyone take video of the event, specifically Buzz's talk at the end they could post?
"Half a billion we used to do about every two months...or as my old boss would say, 'you're on the hook for $8 million a day come hell or high water-.    Never missed in 6 years." - Chico apropos of nothing

I'm shocked!  Shocked, I tell you.  That Davante is quite the ham.....

Though seriously, thanks much for the report.
All this talk of rights.  So little talk of responsibilities.
