Got this from the ticker above.  Their schedule sounds like a killer this year, but you gotta like the attitude of their coach.

The Marquette matchup in Milwaukee came about largely because of Balza's friendship with Golden Eagles coach Tom Crean. Another connection is first-year FGCU assistant Nick Bennett, who was the director of basketball technology at Marquette last year.

The timing seems right for that game as FGCU is sandwiched between Georgetown and Syracuse on Marquette's schedule. It also is just-right for the Eagles' purposes.

"My thought process on putting that game in there at the end ... we're ineligible for the NCAA Tournament but we're eligible for the NIT, so if we make the NIT, we really don't want to go two weeks without playing, and that gives us another game in there," Balza said. "And it would be a really good prep game, obviously, for the NIT. And if we don't make it (to the NIT), it's kind of a first-round NCAA Tournament game, if you will; good simulation for our younger guys in the future."

bravo to their coach......its great -- he wants to build a program and will play anybody, anytime to get things moving.  Smart move.  Lots of kids might wanna spend 4 yrs 'studying' in Ft Myers
