I think the coaches still limit what Derrick is allowed to do. Let's not forget there are probably 10-15 teams in this tourney for whom Derrick would be one of their best recruits. If he was playing somewhere where he would be allowed much more freedom. How many teams don't have a single player as good as Vander, Jamil, Davante, Todd, or even Trent (he did average 13+ at high-major ASU) on offense?

Derrick is almost always the last scoring option when he's on the floor. Maybe at some of these mid and low major teams he wouldn't be expected to defer and would put up numbers more in line with what he did in prep school. I trust Buzz's judgment and ability to develop players and feel confident there are more than a few teams in the field where Derrick would not just start but would be one of their better players.

Playing the point at Marquette is a maligned position. Junior, Buycks, and James all took a ton of criticism while here yet two of them helped get us to Sweet 16s and one was the four-year general of what I have to think was Marquette's winningest recruiting class ever. Acker and Cooby were two more guys that weathered criticism but became pretty darn significant as seniors. But they all live in the shadow of guys like Diener, Tony Miller, Hutch, and even Dean the Dream.

Let's not write Derrick off just because he isn't at their level yet.

Yes, he plays good D, has stopped using his hands to foul like he did last year but when you have Lockett, Anderson and Wilson in the game, who is going to score?  He is offensively
challenged, they play off him, he could have a shot anytime he wants it.  Yesterday he drove the lane and stopped, are you kidding me.  Can not wait till next year, DWilson has an
offensive mentality.

Well, that won't happen next year because Lockett will be gone. And I also expect Anderson to improve. But regardless, we will have a ton of scoring options next year if everyone comes back. Gardner, Blue, Jamil, and Otule have proven they can put the ball in the basket. If Steve and Juan continue to improve both could become competent scorers. And if McKay and even one of the freshman (Jajuan comes to mind) can deliver the goods early on you will easily be able to put Derrick out there without worry because virtually everyone else on the floor will be able to score.

Brew, I just do not see it, he is not a good passer either, watch tomorrow if he can get the ball into the low post.  Has a hard time, can not shoot.  Maybe another year of experience
will help and he will take the next step.  Secondly, he plays low to the ground and is not explosive to the hoop.  He will get the first chance to start next year, hope he improves.  There
must be a reason that Buzz is bringing in 2 point guards.  Is he the odd man out?  I hate that MU oversigned.
