We'll likely see on Saturday why all the sports news were spinning L'Ville and G'Town BEast Champs and leaving MU out of the picture. Didn't understand Buzz's tirade about respect after a miracle win. Maybe it was a ploy to motivate the team knowing their history in the BEast tourney (see below) which obviously didn't work. Win a few games on the big stage in the BEast tourney and maybe that respect would have been earned. This record shows, other than 2008 & 2010 that MU hasn't earned BEast tourney post season respect.

Hope this team gets it together for the NCAA, but won't be surprised if they lose their first or second game. Hope I'm wrong. Not sure all this "Look what we did last year and the year before that in the NCAA after a bad BEast tourney!" really applies and that seems like all anyone is really talking about:

2006 MU (4) 59 vs G'Town (5) 62

2007 MU (6) 79 vs Pitt (3) 89

2008 MU (6) 61 vs Pitt (7) 68 -- Semifinals

2009 MU (5) 75 vs 'Nova (4) 76 -- Quarterfinals

2010 MU (5) 57 vs G'Town (8) 80 -- Semifinals

2011 MU (11) 56 vs L'Ville (3) 81 -- Quarterfinals

2012 MU (2) 71 vs L'Ville (7) 84 -- Quarterfinals

2013 MU (3) 65 vs ND (6) 73 -- Quarterfinals

the nova layup was 4 years ago?  This birthday is making me feel older than I thought.

We were eliminated by a team we beat in the regular season every year except 2011.  And beaten by a lower seed 5 times.    MSG is not our place.

The 6 OT thriller followed Jerel's braincramp ... that long night at the Garden was still worth it.

I'm afraid you and many others are right, pardner. By this time of the year all the weaker teams have ended their seasons, and maybe our string of good fortune has finally run out.  It's been a lot of fun so far, but as BW has said more than once:  "We're not a good team."  Hope he's wrong for  a few more games, though.

I was thinking about this last night .. I've added some details to your table...

2006 MU (4) 59 vs G'Town (5) 62   (one and done)
2007 MU (6) 79 vs Pitt (3) 89 (Beat SJU)
2008 MU (6) 61 vs Pitt (7) 68 -- Semifinals  (Beat Seton Hall, ND)
2009 MU (5) 75 vs 'Nova (4) 76 -- Quarterfinals (Beat SJU)
2010 MU (5) 57 vs G'Town (8) 80 -- Semifinals (Beat SJU, Nova)
2011 MU (11) 56 vs L'Ville (3) 81 -- Quarterfinals (Beat Prov, WVU)
2012 MU (2) 71 vs L'Ville (7) 84 -- Quarterfinals (one and done)
2013 MU (3) 65 vs ND (6) 73 -- Quarterfinals (one and done)

8 years.
3 one-and-dones .. all of them to weaker seeds, all of those after earning the "best" bye.
8 total wins .. yet ~5 of those to teams in the lower half of the BE
Seeded in the top 6 seven times, never made it to the final 4.

It may not be MSG, but the pressure of the BET, the big floor, the final exam where we fail.  High expectations the team didn't live up to, as indicated by losing 5 years to weaker seeds.

I can't remember exactly, but didn't we have similar problems predating the Big East?  I can't remember any really deep runs in CUSA, and do have vague recollections of losing to some  bad teams early in at least a few years.

Huge bummer that we've never played Saturday night. One of the most exciting non-NCAA tournament games there is in college basketball.

ESPN has results starting in 2001-02

2002 CUSA
MU 84, 7 Louisville 76 (we were 2 seed)
MU 85, Houston 73
at Cincinnati 77, Marquette 63 (we were #10, not competitive against Cincy, who was #5)

2003 CUSA
UAB 83, MU 76 (we were 1 seed)

2004 CUSA
TCU 64, MU 62

2005 CUSA
at TCU 60, MU 57 (OT)

So not too good before Big East, either

I agree wholeheartedly.
