When you look at the numbers, they look like the ages of kids invited to a Sweet Sixteen birthday.

It's been glossed over due to winning but Marquette for quite some time has been an incredibly sloppy, dysfunctional, and downright stupefying team when it comes to protecting the basketball.

A loss like last night should be of no shock (and is of no consequence). The question is whether a team that has been so bad taking care of the ball for seven weeks can suddenly fix that flaw in seven days.

Its been a troubling trend, but I guess the benefit of losing last night is that Buzz has a few days to get back to the fundamentals...

Agree with your point that our inability to protect the ball is likely to be our downfall.  Agree that last night's loss is not a shock.

Disagree 100% that the loss is of no consequence.  We are eliminated from the Big East tournament, a great tournament with big time exposure.  Ask Jim Calhoun.  He'll tell you that winning the 1990 Big East tournament is what really got the UConn program rolling.  It is a big deal.  For the life of me I don't understand the mantra that nothing matters except how far you go in the NCAA tournament.  I would LOVE for MU to win the Big East Tournament, and we'll never have a chance again to win it at this level of prestige or interest.

You're only happy when it rains, ain'a?

I think he's just pointing out the obvious. I can recall saying maybe a month ago or more that turnovers would prevent success in the NCaA tournament. That's who they've been all year, and it is not likely to change now.

In some ways I agree about the Big East Tournament. My feeling has been for the last couple of years that its simply not a format our MU teams excel in. That's why I've never been too upset by the losses though, of course, everyone wants the prestige that comes with the title.

I think it would be much more important to win next year's tournament. Less prestige then the last eight years but it would do more for our place in the conference.

To be fair, if he pointed this out after a win, people would tell him to enjoy the win and focus on the positives

CBB on the whole has been filled with a lot more turnovers this year.
