Probably a 2. Unless Gonzaga loses and all unexpected teams win the conference tourneys while we beat Syracuse, Louisville, and Geoegetown.

It's not impossible, but still highly unlikely.

It's impossible.  We have 7 losses on the year, including one to UWGB.

Indiana, Duke, Kansas, Miami, Michigan would all get 1 seeds before we get the 1, even if none of them win their Conference Tournament and we beat the top possible seeds to win ours (ND, Louisville, GT).

Just to be fair, Miami lost to Florida Gulf Coast by 12 (at home) and to Indiana St (at home) and have 6 losses.  Why in the world would they get a #1 seed before us, if they lose their conference and we win ours?

They also lost to Wake by 15.  IMO Miami is overrated.

Even if you take Miami out we are still behind the other 4. Also, even if we win the BE tourney Louisville would likely get the nod before us.

MU would be a lock for a 2 seed considering it would likely pad our resume with two more huge wins.

Small outside shot at the last 1 if some things lineup right... I've been saying it for weeks, but believe it or not, MU's computer numbers are right up there with the very top.

If MU wins the BE tourney, and a couple other teams lose including Duke, and Indiana, we have a shot at a 1 seed, its not a good shot, but its a shot nonetheless

If we beat Louisville and go on to win the BE Championship why would Louisville be ahead of us then
We would of split with them and be the hotter team going into the tourney

A number one, no.

A number two, yes.  But it has to be beating ND, then Louisville, then Georgetown.  No other matchups would do it.

It's an outside chance at the 1 but it isn't out of the question is what I'm saying
Every matchup has to fall the right way with upsets in other tournaments but this has been a crazy year so who knows anymore

Also I don't see the matchups to get a 2 seed as ND Louisville and GT I think simply winning the championship would do

If I'm correct with Lunardi's we are the #1 4th seed without including yesterday's results which has us looking to replace New Mexico as the 3 seed

So are you also eliminating Kansas (TCU), Michigan (Penn State), Georgetown (USF) and Miami (Florida Gulf Coast) from 1 seed consideration?

Kansas lost to a worse team than UWGB (TCU) and until they were blown out last night by Baylor they were on most people's #1 line.

The regular season Big East Champ, and the Big East tourney champ always will have a chance to get a 1 seed. Its arguably the best conference in the country, the winner should at least get considered as a 1 seed.

TCU, Penn State and USF at least play in major conferences and were in-conference games. We played UWGB as a favor to Brian Wardle. Kind of like how a loss to DePaul wouldn't seem as bad.

I wasn't aware of Miami's loss to FL Gulf Coast. That's a solid point.

We will see. I just don't think we are, under any circumstances, considered one if the 4 best teams in the country. I really believe our ceiling is absolutely a 2 and a 3 most probably under ideal circumstances.

As with all things Marquette, I would be happy to be wrong about this.

I know this has been stated already, but i figured i would lay it out.
Marquette's Worst Lost: Wisconsin-Green Bay RPI 163

Other Top Team's Bad Losses:
Kansas: TCU RPI 226
Michigan: Penn St. RPI 180
Georgetown: South Florida RPI 130
Miami: Wake Forest RPI 168, Georgia Tech RPI 127 (Florida Golf Coast has an RPI of 94 and Indiana State RPI of 73 are not bad losses)
Oklahoma St.: Virginia Tech RPI 161
St. Louis: Rhode Island RPI 198
Oregon: Utah RPI 171

Fact of the matter is the losses wont hurt the teams as much this year

I say right now we are at a 3 or 4 seed with a ceiling of 2.

Yes, the reason would be that Gonzaga, Indiana, Duke, Kansas, Miami, Michigan, Kansas State, Michigan State, Florida, Oklahoma State, and Ohio State ALL get embarrassed in the first game of their respective conference tournaments.
You actually have a degree from Marquette?

Quote from: muguru
No...and after reading many many psosts from people on this board that do...I have to say I'm MUCH better off, if this is the type of "intelligence" a degree from MU gets you. It sure is on full display I will say that.
