True, but props to Cooley for giving it the old college try. Some of these recent flu viruses are nasty.

We had the flu....blah, blah, blah

One guy had a sour stomach.  Not to make light of it but he had the sh1ts.

Ummmm...last year at ND..Otule out with ACL..Gardner out with Knee sprain...a little flu...awwwwwww...   :(

real chili 83

Point is, arguably, our best guy this year, Blue, played like he had the flu, based on his scoring.  Same goes for Ox

Wah, wah, wah....

Good lord, this article is just sad.....

The article was about what I'd expect.  I really don't think that they played up the flu as an excuse for anything other than why Cooley played so sparingly and so badly.
You actually have a degree from Marquette?

Quote from: muguru
No...and after reading many many psosts from people on this board that do...I have to say I'm MUCH better off, if this is the type of "intelligence" a degree from MU gets you. It sure is on full display I will say that.

ecompt

Cooley's flu worsened when Otule abused the Irish frontline for six points in the first three minutes.

Nitpicking... But "flu" refers to a respiratory infection. Kind of a pet peeve of mine

I think it is also the polite term for having the sh1ts. Patrick actually said Cooley had a GI problem but that was switched to the flu for the rest of the broadcast. He related how Cooley was getting hydration drips...c'mon.

And "flu-like symptoms" means hung over, so not accurate in this case either.  Unless he had major beer farts.

I just hope that whatever he had, if it was contagious, he didn't pass it on to our guys.

Well, MU had three players (one of which was a starter) with broken legs, and its arguable that we would have played better had they been completely healthy.  But do you hear us complaining?  Nooooooooo.

Just saying.
All this talk of rights.  So little talk of responsibilities.

avid1010

if you read the tweets from the game, one reporter was questioning what cooley did to get in brey's dog house again.  i don't follow nd much, but i found that interesting.  i also believe nd played well when cooley was out this year?  i remember the same being true when they lost harangody for an extended period of time...

Jordan also had the flu once too.

Man up.

Jordan was better when he had the flu. He wasn't human.

Didn't Joe Chapman play with the flu once?  He played solid minutes and puked in a garbage can when he had a chance during timeouts.

JC Warrior.

Yes. Against SLU. His reward? Tanned Tommy left him in Milwaukee, the lone senior, while taking DJ, JM, and Wes to MSG for the BE presser.

Yes and he had a huge game, one of the gutsiest performances, literally and figuratively, i've ever seen by a Marquette player.

bilsu

I do not remember Chapman, but Cadougan was puking on the sidelines last year. The thing that worried me about cooley is the thought that he might give the flue to some of our players.

Sheriff

On the ND radio post-game on WLS, their skinny was that they needed Cooley to beat a good team who shot the lights out. "Senior night magic."  Brey, in his interview, then said that MU put them into a hole they couldn't get out of and he told his team to bring the same energy on their senior night.

Really, a healthy Cooley and this game would have been different in many ways.

The same result but different in many ways. ;)
