NCAA tournament tickets advice wanted

Ill be coming up from Kentucky the first weekend of the tournament and was hoping I would be lucky enough to catch MU on the way back on Saturday or Sunday in Lexington or Dayton. I figure I have a little better than a one in four shot of that happening.

I'm only going to make a second round game (god willing).  Any input on what I should expect to pay and the cheapest way to get a ticket? I'm a young guy and don't mind the nosebleeds.

I probably wouldn't want to buy a ticket until after the first game since I wouldn't want to cut my trip early if we lose. Is it pretty easy to scalp tickets or through a legit source?

Always call the MU ticket office first once the sites are announced; they may not have tickets readily available, but they'll at least point you in the right direction.

If it's completely last minute, you can always show up to the pep rally at the team hotel a couple hours before the game and talk to the AD staff on-site... sometimes extra tickets come available the day of the game, sometimes fans don't show up to claim tickets they paid for, sometimes schools don't sell their full allotment.

If you just need a single ticket, you can always chum around with some other alums at the rally, too... it's not exactly uncommon for STHs to reserve too many tickets, have a no-show, have to leave early, etc., or in other words have an extra ticket on hand.  Most (myself included) would rather give an extra ticket away to a fellow alum & eat the cost than sell to a scalper and not know who is going to be sitting in the next seat over.

My success story... I drove six hours to Mpls in 2003 with no ticket in hand.  Ended up scoring a ticket at face value, sitting with the students in the 2nd row behind the basket.

And worst case scenario, bring five twenties and negotiate the best price you can get from a scalper.  Singles always go cheaper than 2s and 4s, so I'd say anywhere between $20-100 (depending on the other teams playing) will get you in the door, possibly even with a very good seat.

Don't buy in advance. Tickets ate always plentiful on the street, in bars, etc. you'll have no problem finding good seats at a good price.

Thanks for the suggestions. I didnt think of the obvious of hitting up the mu gatherings. I think just experiencing that aspect alumni would be worth going out of the way to attend.
