......to help us move past #15 Butler this coming Monday's new polls.

Sports Center did a story this morning on St. Louis beating #15 Butler at Butler last night.  One of the Bilikens' players quoted Majerus before the game in the locker room by challenging the team to win by "getting rebounds and playing defense, getting rebounds and playing defense", a line often used by Majerus.   ESPN credited the Majerus quote as a contributing factor to the great play of the Bilikens' in their road win against Butler.

Thanks Rick for opening the door to a top 15 rating.  Warriors just gotta take care of business today in Philly.

+1 thanks, coach. I'm sure your boys are playing for you.

I watched the game in its entirety last night.  Absolutely outstanding basketball between two teams certain to be ranked this week and on their way to solid seeds in the NCAA.  Hinkle Fieldhouse was an absolute zoo and it was clear that a vocal contingent had road tripped from St. Louis.  I'm not suggesting that SLU ought to be in the top 3 invitations to the BEast 2.0 but as member 11 or 12 I'd love to renew acquaintances.  They were a worthy rival back in the day and their new on campus arena is very solid.

In that same vein, I am in the camp of including Dayton, SLU and Creighton based solely on honoring some great former rivalries.  Some on this board are too young to remember some fiercely fought games.   Back in the day, you were NEVER guaranteed a W at Dayton.

I agree on those all being fun old time rivals. Dayton was a tough win in post Al era in particular. In looking into new conference I have mixed emotions. The love of the old days provides soft spot for those teams and hope for the future worries me about those teams. No doubt we take step backwards in new conference and need to be careful it does not become six steps backwards.

I think SLU is committed to bBall.   The arena is just outstanding, market is solid, location is right and the school profile fits.  I like SLU as no. 10, 11 or 12.

Eddie Hickey would like you. He was head coach at Creighton, St Louis and MU

ah, Eddie Hickey.  Those were the days of listening to MU basketball on the radio playing a long distance away game against the LaSalle Explorers, for example.  Tends to make one a life long Hilltopper/Warrior fan.

Going forward, Hinkle will be the 'must do' road trip. Packed house every night in Indiana's most historic venue.  Hoosier hoop dreams.  Tough as Ray Meyer's old Alumni Hall.  Beautiful; can't wait.

Even with the new arena, it's important to note that Biondi is only committed to Biondi. The board gets nothing done without his blessing. I think it's worth waiting to see who is hired as the next permanent coach. Majerus had them setup for this year and perhaps next but things could, and are likely to, go sharply down hill from there, and that makes them only a so-so choice to add to the new conference.
