Sorry, couldn't resist this low-hanging fruit from earlier this week.

Here I'll be more specific and then y'all can rip away:
1. Lack of team quickness, sans Blue. Everyone else is stuck in neutral.
We barely scored ~80 points against the #4 ranked Pomeroy team.  TERRIBLE.

2. Lack of shooters---guards, forwards--- it don't matter.
We shot 45% from 3 today (5-11), and over 50% for the game. UNACCEPTABLE!

3. Donut defense---nothin' in the middle
We held the #16 ranked team in the country (oh, and #4 in Pomeroy) to 41%
shooting, and made them play completely out of their preferred tempo.  ADEQUATE!

4. Other than Blue and Taylor the roster is made up of mid-major talent.
Lockett, 11 pts, Wilson, 13 pts, Mayo, 9 pts.  But you're right, totally NOT
DOUG McDERMOTT NUMBERS.

5. Very weak backcourt---point guard position, I mean, really?
Mayo, 9 pts in 14 min, Vander (again, taking a steaming dump on his detractors
of the past few seasons) with 19 pts, 6 rebs.  Cadougan with a solid 6 pt, only 2 TO outing,
and DWil, uh... scored (1 point)..REALLY?!

6. Entire team needs to grow a pair and realize the game is 40 minutes long.
Marquette 79, Pitt 69.  Underdog, at home, on National TV, to boot. 
HOW THIS TEAM OF SOLID, TALENTED PLAYERS CONTINUE TO WIN GAMES AGAINST
GOOD OPPONENTS, WHEN ALL THEY HAVE IS THEIR SKILL, TALENT, DEPTH, AND GOOD
COACHING?!  It's a miracle we're  18-6, 9-3, first place in the conference.

Moral of the story: always, ALWAYS, overreact to a bunch of 18-21 year olds playing
poorly on the road against an AP and Pomeroy top 20 team (and tied for first in the
conference). 

Glad I can enjoy the next 3 days without the pearl clutching, fainting couch, concern trolling
of the past week.  Good job, and nice win, Buzz and team!

Important to keep referencing Pomeroy, which AGAIN has Wisconsin ranked 17 spots ahead of us. At least they don't have Badgers ranked first this time.

I look at these rankings from time to time and have yet to figure out why so many have so much love for them.

I wouldn't call 41% of the nation, national TV.  Any of us living in the south had to stream the game online, everyone down here got to watch the destruction of kentucky.

Would like to see us win on the road a bit more often. As I said in response to Georgetown, the NCAA isn't played on our home floor. We're going to have to travel to some neutral site.

That neutral site, may not be all that neutral too. Look at the number of times NCAA games have been played within walking distance of Duke and North Carolina. And somehow, Duke and North Carolina find their way to these locales. We may have to face something like that -- a "neutral" hostile crowd. So if we cannot beat good teams on the road, we'll be one-and-done in the NCAAs.

Our quest begins tomorrow -- in New Jersey and Philadelphia.
