Good news - defense for the game was actually pretty solid. Georgetown was held to 0.98 ppp for the game. Marquette actually shot fairly well for the game (eFG% of 48% for the game)

Bad news - Cannot win against a quality opponent with a turnover rate of 30%. Besides the turnover rate, #mubb got crushed on the boards in the 1H, and lost for the game. 0.70 ppp in the 1H; 0.86 ppp for the game.

In other words, MU lost because it was careless with the ball.      (Looking at you, Junior and Vander)    Do better Saturday.

Primarily because it was careless with the ball, but also because they lost the OR% and FTR factors.

eFG% is 2x more important than TO%, 3x more important than OR%, and 14x more important that FTR. On the plus side, #mubb won the eFG% battle, but then lost those other factors decisively. Had they been able to do better on OR%, then the team may actually have had a chance to win despite being so careless with the ball.

Forgive me.   Rebound the ball and hold onto it.    Got it.

As I said in another thread: 24-9 GU in points off turnovers....basically all uncontested shots coming back.  Fifteen free points advantage. Plus, I have never seen so many non-ball control offensive foul calls in one game in my life which led to an early bonus situation.  At least the refs were consistent with that.  MU did literally give the game away, though.

The facts speak for themselves. There were 19 turn-overs. Three players accounted for over half of them. Cadougan had 4, Otule 3 and Blue also had 3. Turn-overs are like cancer. They will kill a team. Should you have the courage to re-watch the game, the sad part of the above 10 turn-overs is that they all came at particularly critical moments.

Regarding Coach Williams' technical foul, this Warrior lived through the McGuire era. One cannot even count the number of technicals Al received, and how many games were lost as a result.  The two techinicals in the Indiana game against Coach Knight brought Coach McGuire's T's to the TKO level. Coach McGuire never really repented. He always said he was trying to fire up the team, or that he was working the ref's for next call, game, whatever.

Personally, this fan thinks Coach Williams did what he had to do. All coaches have to fight to earn respect. It might be that Coach Williams has just been too nice a guy, and he realized enough is enough.

Anyway, the Georgetown game last evening was one of the most disappointing and deflating loses this Warrior fan has ever watched.

Second time this season MU has lost a game when shooting better than their opponent (other one was Butler). Last season it happened just once (Louisville at MSG).

Fairly unique correlations (four factors to efficiency) for MU so far this year.

UTICA BUSBARN----In regard to Al's technicals and Buzz's last night-- You HIT THE NAIL ON HEAD.
Our inner "D" was horrible.

Stats are better than I thought. Thought worse watch the game.

Buzz is the coach and he gets plenty of room from this fan. He wanted to get T last night, fine by me. He has earned the right to do what he feels his best. By the way, how many T's has Buzz had as MU coach?

There was that weird one when he lost his balance and fell over at Nova (?) last year

Yep.  The stats above confirm what we could all see last night.  If we do the same vs. Pitt we have no chance.

How many of the turnovers were offensive fouls? Seemed like at least 5 or 6.....
