--a new starting five--juan, lockett and otule give you no points. cannot start out so slowly.

--jamil wilson to stop guarding the ball. he has never stolen someone's dribble. no reason for riding the ballhandler. six points wont do it.

--more mayo, less lockett.

--more steve taylor. great body. goes to the basket. aggressive.

Jamil's defense at end of game against pitt won the game.

Aside from a couple of silly fouls, Jamil played quite well today. Missed some shots but all of them looked good off his hand, and he really hustled at both ends most of the night.

Another thing to look forward to, dolly not posting nonsense after a loss

Lockett tied the game at 61 with 49 seconds left.

another thing to look forward to: easier teams.

I actually agree on all points. Jamil is getting back to Jamil from last year which is good but he does get in foul trouble a lot which can be a problem.  We are deep at his position though and I think you are right that Taylor should get more time when he is in foul trouble.

As for the mayo vs Lockett point, I think Lockett is generally good and his minutes are usually warranted because of his defense. I think they get the minutes they deserve with Lockett maybe getting a few too many.

Lockett has costly lapses on defense...not guarding Patterson in Pitt, and letting Kilpatrick blow past him to win the game...

Kilpatrick blew past Anderson, not Lockett.

GGGG

Yeah, if anyone doesn't start, it should be Anderson.  Lockett is fine - he's #3 in mpg for a reason.

  • Two winnable home games
  • A Super Bowl Sunday game with a likely top-5 Louisville
  • Seven games against sub-80 kenpom teams
  • Home games against 3 of the top 4 Big East teams per kenpom
  • A top-4 Big East finish

Quit worrying about who starts.   Worry about who finishes.   Buzz ran 11 guys out there in the first half.   Everybody got their chances to fire up the offense.   Nothing worked.   Second half, with the same starters in that many are blaming for the slow start, and the team comes out on fire.    Same guys, different half.   I can't explain it.   I am just not going to blame 'the starting line-up' for the problem.

We will be favored to win four of our next five games (Prov, USF, @USF, DeP). If we play as well as we should and win those -- and assuming a loss at LVille -- that would be an 8-2 conference start and should position us very nicely for NCAAs. We need to beat the teams we should, especially at home.

I do wish we played LVille at home on Super Sunday. If we don't shoot the ball well for long stretches in that game, we might lose by 30+.
