Fortunately Providence lost to Brown yesterday and there are a few others that have been big eye openers.  We just seem to walk through the motions in too many games.  I've been concerned since the SELA game and to this day I'm not sure we have looked like a NCAA team against anyone.  Wisconsin played one of their worst games of the year against us and they aren't particularly good to begin with.  LSU, jury is out.  I don't know, maybe one of those years.

The Butler game may actually be the best game of the season so far.

SOTG:  Mayo.  Kept his head, including at end when he didn't force it with minute left.  Leading rebounder and one of the leading scorers.

Not sure i would put him above Vander or JC, but Mayo looked pretty good, i'll give you that.

Agree. Outside of Jamil ( that's becoming a familiar refrain) we played very well against Butler. Took a lucky shot to beat us.

Junior's early turnovers in the second half alone should disqualify him from SOTG. I say Mayo.

Yeah, the Butler game looks the best, though I thought Butler played pretty average that game by their standards.  I don't know if we played well, they played average, or a combination of all the above.

So MU shoots 60% from the field, 45.5% from 3pt, and 81.5% from the line and they still have a tough time winning?  I guess all of that gets negated pretty easily with 20 TO's.

Feel okay with this game.   Mayo may be the smartest basketball player we have.

There are two conclusions I drew from this game: 1.) Thank God Todd Mayo is back  2.) I can't wait to get the JUCO edge back next season

Really surprised with this level of struggle from Wilson.  Needs to at least board and defend average at BE level.

Hopefully Steve Taylor can elevate his game on a fast track.

Also does Otule suck or is he injured, why no pt?

Maybe Jerry Palm is right about this year's team.

Jamil Wilson's play has been nothing but dumbfounding to me.  I have no explanations for games like this from him.

What did Palm say?

Otule actually played the first six minutes of the game, then sporadic minutes after for a total of 13.  He is just not the player he once was, which was just more than a defensive big.

When you saw Taylor in for Wilson at the end of the game, it might have been a sign of things to come.

Loved that strong move to the bucket that Taylor made in 2nd half.

I'm utterly shocked with Wilson's play so far. I thought he was the most likely to break out this year.  Especially playing these 2-3 zones, you would think he'd be great at sitting right on the free throw line and either taking the shot or putting the ball on the floor.

Marquette plays down to the level of competition. It happens every year. This year its more noticeable because this team has no alpha-dog scorer like we have had in the past. Vander and Junior really score based off of the team. The fact that we were able to grind out the win is more of a positive then a negative. Not always a bad thing to get some heat from a poor team before facing a better team (UConn)

Not really anyone for Chris to guard in a game like this. NCC played 5 perimeter guys the whole game.
