My Dearest Scoopers of the Mainland,

For the past week, I lived amongst the natives in the remote and tiny island of Maui. What can I tell you of this mysterious island and its people? It is a place of wonder, and yet to the outsider like me, a place of odd tradition.  What is it which I have observed?

1) First and foremost, the pride of Marquette was visible throughout the isle.  It is with great curiosity that even on Wednesday and Thursday, an Illinois shirt was as scarce as a sober Elvis impersonator.  The presence of Marquette & North Carolina fans and their colors were equally present in great quantity, with Butler a relatively close, yet figuratively distant second.  Even the mythical gods of the islands were in awe of the spirit of Al there assembled.

2) The chihuahuan fans of USC failed to bite their tongue, and in turn, it was their tongue which was bitten.  The most memorable moment on the island was how one of the chihuahuas decided to yell "get off the court" at Buzz only to be overwhelmed by an unexpected "SHUT UP" from Coach Williams.  Needless to say, not one chihuahua spoke up thereafter.

3) As one of only a handful of post-Warrior era alums present, I was surprised to see the sentiments of many Scoopers present in the more seasoned alums.  The spite for Notre Dame, the ever-questioning of the University's decisions, the pessimism over the foreshadowed length of Buzz's tenure, etc. all made me realize that some of the crazies on this board are indeed representative of those craziest about MU basketball.  Silent is the voice of reason amongst those most passionate.

4) I found Larry Williams to be somewhat as expected, but his character is quite embellished on these pages.  If you have the opportunity to ask him a question some time, you might be surprised by his effort in the answer you receive.

As for the basketball team, they are quickly learning the ways of their predecessors, and seem to be getting better with every passing day.  To wit, I have found nothing wrong with this remote place, and I must admit it was with some melancholy that I had to leave the island and return home.

I saw this chick in a bikini on the beach too. She had the nicest boobs ever.

Humbly yours,

Benjamin

Wow, I'm very concerned for Benny.  Being able to mimic Myron Medcalf's writing so closely implies an oncoming case of dementia.

GGGG

I believe none of this without a pic of the chick.

Was her name Blondie?

Nice write up Benjamin.

Thanks for update Benny. Sounds like a great trip, very jealous here. Currently in china and wishing I was back home. Your report, especially bikini visual, made my morning.

So, seeing how it is tomorrow there, does that mean that MU has already beaten maryland bc?  If so, are you padding your stats on this scoop prediction thread?  We expect you to win!  Did Vander play?

Benny--
Nice recap. Still here at the Grotto Bar with the blondes right now.  Nice that Larry had the chance to get out from the Pilarz shadow. I met plenty of Golden Eagles actually on the trip.  One add;  MU may be the best team here although Paul has the most NBA chops.  UNC aint got it this year.

Aloha

Yes, there are some lovely twin peaks on the island.

Does one of said blondes happen to be the hula dancer from the luau last night that - shall we say - appeared somewhat out of place?  If so, Id be careful going drink for drink with her.

It's almost as though they subbed her in at the last minute to make the MU alums feel more at home.

That's who Buzz yelled at! My wife caught that. I did not. I was drunk.

Delayed in Kona right now-another Mehana Volcano Red down the hatch.
