Can Nova Be As Big A Disaster As Last Year?
« on: November 20, 2012, 08:06:52 PM »
Last year Nova had 4 McDonald's AA and finished 13-19, a horrific year.

Tonight they were blown out AT HOME to perennial Ivy League Doormat Columbia University by 18 points (75-57)!

If Nova turns in another stinker of a year, is Jay Wright History?  They do have a decent class coming next year but Wright had a decent class last year and they sucked.  Did Wright forget how to coach?

I watched them play somebody this year and came away with the conclusion that we should beat them easily this year. All they do is fast break and throw up shots. I am all for fast breaking, but you have got to know the difference between a good shot and a bad shot.

Someone on ESPN made it sound like next year's class would create a big turnaround, but by the looks of it I don't see it, even pales in comparison to ours by rankings.

What is going on? I can't just believe that Jay Wright lost his ability to coach.

Didn't Nova already beat Purdon't this year?

Last year they gave us fits in both games.  They lost a few games last year in OT to NCAA teams like UCONN and ND.  They have some talent, but were inconsistent.  They won't be an easy out this year either.

You mean 1-3 Purdue whose only win is against Hoftsra? I don't expect any easy games from anyone (we're Marquette aren't we?).

Villanova is really bad this year and Jay Wright is going to be on the hot seat, which is unbelievable given the success he's had and the talent he's pulled in.  That doesn't necessarily mean an easy win for us on Feb. 23.  They are always tough at home.

Yes, that Purdon't.   They lost to Bucknell who is a good team, undefeated this year.  Lost to Villanova and lost to Oregon State. They won 21 games last year and they are a pesky team in the Pac 12.

Purdue is picked 6th in the Big Ten this year and likely NCAA team.   Some talent on that team, but young.  That win over Purdue by Nova may not mean much to you today, but come Feb and March I bet it looks pretty good.

Seems our fans don't like judging MU so much early in the season and probably the same realistic courtesy and logic should be applied when viewing other schools as well.

If we were 1-3, you and me both know this board would be judging the hell out of this team. On the rest, I mainly agree - they will be pesky/tough/not an easy win...though I just think the main point is that Villanova, with all their great recruits, seems to be still struggling quite more than one would expect.

And we all know how good pre-season conference rankings are outside the top 3-4. Just saying.

I t was the Purdue game I watched. They did not impress me either. Pinckston(sp) is the only player on Nova I would like to have.

I watched the Purdue game, and quite frankly the Boilers got jobbed...that's the only reason Nova beat them.

Purdue had an 8 point lead with a little over a minute to go. Purdue player gets called for throwing an elbow at someones head. The ref's looked at it a long time before they gave Nova two free throws and the ball. The call was somewhat questionable. All I could think of is I wished we had those refs last year against Florida. I was sure they were going to call a flagrant on the Florida player when it looked like he hit Wilson in the jaw with his elbow. They just waived it off after looking at it. That call would have been huge. I think we were down 7 and would of got two free throws and the ball.

Okay, Mom.
You actually have a degree from Marquette?

No...and after reading many many psosts from people on this board that do...I have to say I'm MUCH better off, if this is the type of "intelligence" a degree from MU gets you. It sure is on full display I will say that.
