When someone gets on LW for a sweat stained hat, Chicos provides a picture of Buzz in combat boots. When someone mocks a top 6, blue blood program with 5 national championships for having an opening game ring ceremony for a Sweet 16 appearance, he makes the MU (3 Sweet 16 in 30 years pre Buzz) rings that were passed out with little fanfare at a summer barbeque his avatar. This is done to point out what he considers irony, hypocrisy, or both. Never mind that he ignores context (Buzz at a game to honor the armed forces, the history of IU vs MU programs and the timing/venue of the ceremonies, etc) that undermine his passive/aggressive antics. Apples to apples is unimportant if it gets in the way of a good "sigh".

That said, I don't really care about Larry's hat or TC's celebration - much ado about very little.

By the way, the video I provided was from Midnight Madness, not the BBQ, and seemed to have some fanfare to it.  Of course that is all in the eye of the beholder.  The rings certainly weren't handed out in private, but with a production, video, crowd, etc.     http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EM4sb6FV6YY

At the end of the day, I think it's great we are honoring our team with Sweet 16 rings.  If other schools do it, that's great, too.  Not sure I understand why people are down on it.  However, I do recall that some people here think you only put up a banner if you win it all or go to the Final Four so that may be their rationale.  Other programs, of high esteem, do things differently.  To each their own.
