The bad news is the Bucks greatly overpaid for often injured, no D, Mo Williams. The good news is Diener could be in the $52 mil, 6 year club depending on the club he next hooks up with.
As I see it, the only difference between Williams and Diener to this point is that Mo got a chance with a new team and made the most of it. Here's hoping the breaks start falling Travis' way.

Williams is not the liability that TD is on defense. TD can't stay in front of the quick NBA guards! Also Williams is quite a bit stronger !

6 years, $52 million for Diener?!? You sure are smoking the loco weed ;)...that's Jim McIlvaine money!!!

I would say a 1 or 2 year, $4-7 million deal.

MoWill is a potential all-star (never a first team though). He has more skills and strengths than Diener.

Diener is your heady, back-up point guard who will not turn the ball over against the opponent's reserves and surprise you - much like Chris Crawford did against the Knicks in the playoffs.

reading comprehension problem? No one said Diener is worthy of Mo's contract right now. What was intended by the post was this; Mo Williams was signed by the Bucks as a restricted free agent after wasting a year as a second roung pick of the Jazz. He got an opportunity with the Bucks and took advantage of it. Three years later, a big time, set for life, contract came his way.
While I know timing is everything in life, I could see the same thing happening for Travis at this time, i.e., new team and an opportunity to play whereby his next contract 2-3 years from now would result in essentially "winning the lottery." Comprehendo?

No doubt Diener is not worthy of Mo's contract, but I do not think he will EVER be worthy. Even with the playing time he *may* get in your scenario, I do not think he will be in the $8.5 mil/year range...

I would NEVER bet against TD.  I don't follow salaries very closely of players outside of Milwaukee, but if a .500 pitcher like Jeff Suppan can earn himself a 40 MM contract near the end of his career, I will not be surprised if TD far exceeds what most think he can earn.
