Am I the only one who thought the possession arrow was wrong all second half? When there was that 50/50 ball did Butler call a timeout in the second half? I thought they got the arrow and later I saw the refs talk to the table because the MU bench looked really confused.

I doubt this officiating staff would mess up like so, but if they did it could've turned out bad.

CBS had it messed up throughout the 2nd half.  Made me think that whomever is controlling the graphics just forgets its there, as it is a new feature.

No, the red arrow court side was facing Butler's way too.. as I thought the same thing.

Lennys Tap

I thought the same thing. Thank God the game didn't come down to the possession arrow.

weird...I too thought something was a bit off....seemed like Butler had the arrow for two straight tie-ups....but then again my heart was in defib....

muwarrior87

I remember one tie up and then there was a discussion between the refs, Buzz and the score table a few minutes later and the arrow still pointed Butler's way. I thought that was what the discussion was about but the announcers were talking about Buzz's quick subbing.

Any more info / details on this? I don't recall this, but... generally the possession arrow doesn't flip until a throw-in ENDS... for example, a team is awarded the ball based on the possession arrow.. but they won't flip it right away.. a throw-in begins (i.e.,.. guy is trying to inbounds the ball)... in certain circumstances - for example, if MU had fouled Butler before the ball was inbounded = the throw-in began but it never ended. Accordingly, the possession arrow is NOT supposed to be flipped.

So.. even if Team A has the ball, Team B ties 'em up, ref calls held ball, it goes to Team B out of bounds because of the possession arrow. Team B is trying to throw it in, gets fouled before the throw in is made... then the possession arrow doesn't flip at all. Team B (assuming less than 7 team fouls on Team A) gets to try to throw it in again, but the possession arrow stuff is done with - it does not change even though there was a held ball.
The portal is NOT closed.

GGGG

I tried looking at the statsheet but it doesn't note possession arrow calls.  Jay Bee is 100% correct though.
