I have seen ESPN 100 small forward Deonte Burton (Milwaukee/Vincent) participate in the last few Under Armour Summer Jam events and have always been very impressed with the way the Marquette commit approaches the game.

Deonte Burton highlights Marquette's fourth-best recruiting class in the country.
At 6-foot-4, 228 pounds, Burton is nearly impossible to match up with at the the high school level thanks to his college-ready body. He simply overpowers most high school small forwards by attacking them in transition, in the low post and from the wing. The No. 44 overall player in the 2013 class also pursues rebounds in and out of his area and is capable of defending both wing positions, as well as power forwards in certain lineups.

Burton also finishes above the rim on the break with power and has improved his midrange, pull-up jumper off the catch. He scores through contact and draws fouls as well as anyone at his position in the 2013 class. Opponents know he is going to attack them going left, which is his strong hand, and there is not much they can do about it. However, the most impressive thing about Burton is the level in which he competes. His toughness and how hard he consistently plays on both ends of the floor is unmatched.

"I out-tough people," Burton said, and I couldn't agree more.

He has to work on his right hand, continue to improve as a shooter and work to be more consistent, but I think he will do so.

Golden Eagles head coach Buzz Williams was front and center at the Summer Jam, watching Burton and he has to be excited to already have a player like Burton in the fold to compete in the tough Big East.

"I am very excited about going to Marquette. I am always around the coaches trying to work to build a bond and trust before I get there and I am very excited about it," Burton said.

Burton will be joined by another local ESPN 100 performer in 6-3, 176-pound scoring point guard Duane Wilson (Milwaukee/Dominican). The Golden Eagles have the two best players from the state of Wisconsin in the 2013 class and they are both excited to help Marquette continue to be very successful for years to come.
"Marquette is so good defensively, they steal your mouth guards."

The Process

Quote
"I out-tough people"

Music to my ears - look at Butler/Jae/Zar:  All players who embraced their inner "junkyard dog" for MU and became the star player for their teams their senior years.  Now given Burton's physical gifts on top of that attitude and I for one am *very* excited to see him in Blue & Gold.
Relax. Respect the Process.

Nice little publicity for us while we still have the #4 recruiting class.  Once the big boys start to commit that should change, though if we land Nunn I don't see us dropping very far.
