The Quincy Miller decision to go NBA really was a surprise, as his decision to stay had been called one of the best decisions on the draft this year.  I have the loss of his 6.49 Value Add still leaving Baylor at #5 with a team 35.2, while UCLA ironically flips spots with them after adding Tony Parker's 3.03 for a team 38.96, second only to Indiana.  Wow, an Indiana-UCLA title game.

I'm also surprised by Dominic Cheek (3.62) deciding to go, which drops Nova from an NCAA worthy 43rd place 24.29 to a NIT-borderline 66th at 20.67.

Florida International's decision to exclude every D1 school in the Dominique Ferguson (2.66) release may only drop them from a 208th ranked 5.15 to a 261st ranked 2.49, but the long-term damage to the program may be more significant.

I know some think it's ridiculous to keep running team rankings this early since kids transfer, declare, sign etc., but I believe that as long as you have a specific projected value calculated for every kid, it makes sense because every time a kid moves, the rankings reflect him by moving his one Value Add figure.  Anyway, these updates aren't instant yet, but we are improving the site as we go:

The www.valueaddsports.com analysis of basketball, football and baseball players are intended to neither be too hot or too cold - hundreds immerse themselves in studies of stats not of interest to broader fan bases (too hot), while others still insist on pure observation (too cold).

I've got UCLA beating Indiana 172-38 and when Tom Crean cries and shouts out "I NEVER SHOULD'VE LEFT MARQUETTE!" I will laugh.
