I remember local news coverage leading off with a story about how a guy had decorated his car in all Packers colors and merchandise.

Not news, but a nice local interest story.  Nothing wrong with that.
You actually have a degree from Marquette?

No...and after reading many many psosts from people on this board that do...I have to say I'm MUCH better off, if this is the type of "intelligence" a degree from MU gets you. It sure is on full display I will say that.

Potrykus is right on one account.

UW won't lose many in-state recruits from kids that are deft at shooting outside jumpers, aren't the most athletic, and would benefit playing for a top-tier "system"-oriented program like Bo's. A lot of that is due to the fact they subscribe to the "Bo is great" perception already. A second reason is these kids would stand very little chance to flourish at a program that's comparable (from a success standpoint) as UW.

Say what you want about UW and their Hickory-High style of ball, they've been successful. It's not a popular or sexy style of successful, but successful enough in the eyes of their alumni and fans who apparently love the style of ball Bo plays (regardless of the fact that his style stands absolutely zero chance of winning it all or making a final four run).

The story hurts UW if they were to EVER decide to recruit more nationally (which they don't). It will affect them for the few kids they try to recruit out of state. So, really, this story hurts the hoops team literally in Iowa, Minnesota, Illionis, Michigan, Indiana and Nebraska. But the perception nationally is gonna hurt them and make people dislike the school even more.

Either way...fine by me.

As for Potrykus, he's a deusch-canoe. I questioned his ripping on other programs' non-conference football schedules a few years ago and asked him to look in the mirror at UWs pathetic non-conf schedule of annual games vs Duke, Arizona, Fresno State and UNLV. He basically went on a tirade defending these abysmal schools. Since then, I've ignored him completely as he's so ridiculously one-sided.

I view this from out here with a bit of amusement.  The truth is that this will blow over and be forgotten about soon enough.  Ryan is a very good coach who has been great for UW.  He also screwed this up royally.  First off, the original list should have just been the Big 10 and MU (unless he honestly thought some other school was tampering).  But once the crap hit the fan, who would have held it against him if he simply said, "We don't get many transfers and I really handled this one poorly but we'll make this right when I get back from vacation.  (He could throw in soomething about how rare he gets to put aside basketball and devote to his family after that comment)  Jarrod's a good kid and I'm sorry it didn't work out for him here.  We wish him the best."

Also, it probably would have been good if he let his team knew when he was leaving for vacation which probably would have allowed him to side step everything.
