UConn and now Louisville
« on: March 24, 2012, 05:40:25 PM »
Both get to the Final Four despite mediocre Big East regular seasons.  A combined
19-17 yet both make the Final Four.

We were told it was an anomaly last year. Guess not.

The Big East tourney winner usually makes a great NCAA run. Georgetown and West Virginia also recently went to Final Fours, Louisville had an Elite Eight a few years back to go with this Final Four. The only recent BET winner not to have a significant NCAA run was Pitt, and well, Pitt always chokes in March.

And people wonder why I cared about the Big East Tournament...  ?-(

Yeah, those people who said how much the Big East su*ked this year look like geniuses. If Syracuse beats OSU, two of the Final Four will be BE schools.

Don't change your tune now, brewcity. You cared about the Big East Tournament because you wanted a "banner."

Just givin' ya crap. I tend to agree with you on most things, but I disagreed that Marquette's loss in the BET was huge. No way to really measure it, but if there was, it looks like you'd be right.

Who are those people?   I can't recall anyone saying the Big East su*ked this year.  Some people said it wasn't the best, which it clearly isn't.  Every rating system has the conference 2nd or 3rd.  Because a conference gets a team to the Final Four or even the title game does not mean that is the best conference.  Is the Horizon League the second best conference the last two years because of Butler?

A conference is measured top to bottom, not just the top teams.  That is the entire point of rating a conference.  The entire conference.

KenPom has the Big East 3rd right now prior to today's games, but no way the Big East moves into 2nd or 1st.

Sagarin has Big East 3rd.   http://www.usatoday.com/sports/sagarin/bkc1112.htm

Team rankings has Big East 3rd   http://www.teamrankings.com/ncaa-basketball/ranking/conference-power-ranking-by-conf

RPI has the conference 2nd.

Sucks?  No.  The best?  No.
