QuoteAnother problem in bracketing was having to accommodate BYU in a Thursday-Saturday regional if the Cougars win the first round game in Dayton against Iona. BYU's policy against playing athletic events on Sundays forced the Cougars and Iona to No. 14 seeds -- the lowest at-large seed ever in the NCAA tournament, Worlock said.

Separating the three West Coast Conference teams -- BYU, Gonzaga and Saint Mary's -- was also an issue.

Found the above quote interesting--it sounds to me like BYU and Iona were actually supposed to be 13 seeds, instead of slotted at the 14 seeds.  I think I'm glad that we avoided dreaded Belmont, but otherwise wonder if we would have preferred one of the other 14s (Bonnies, South Dakota State) or even some of the 13s (Montana, New Mexico State, Davidson, Ohio) over BYU and Iona.
