“All men dream; but not equally. Those who dream by night in the dusty recesses of their minds wake in the day to find that it was vanity; but the dreamers of the day are dangerous men, for they may act out their dreams with open eyes, to make it possible.” - T.E. Lawrence

I believe a week ago Pitt was #1.  In 3 weeks they could be #6.

See what a bad season does!

Umm...no they couldn't. Syracuse could pass them this year if they win two of their remaining three games. Georgetown could tie them if they win out, though that requires the Hoyas to win road games at Seton Hall and Marquette and a home game against Notre Dame. No one else can pass them. Marquette and ND have 4 games left each, the most wins they can get to is 78. And all this is assuming Pitt loses out, and with a home game against SJU left, I doubt that happens.

Most likely they will be 3rd with 80 wins, trailing only Louisville and Syracuse. No one else could possibly have 80 wins in Big East play since 2005-06 until next season.

Marquette is also only one of two teams without a losing conference record during this time!  The other...West Virginia.  But WVU could get there this year.  A MU win Friday night would certainly help!!

Wow, quite a difference between the above .500 teams and the below .500 teams.  Its a pretty dramatic cutoff.

is this including BE tourney games, and other matchups (e.g. beating Cuse in the NCAA tourney) ??

Don't think so.  In regular season play MU has 10, 10, 11, 12, 11, 9 & 11 (and counting) which adds up to the 74 in the chart.

While it is cool to be so high up on a list like this when we were seen as a likely bottom-feeder in '05-'06, UConn is only 9th on the list but has easily had the most success since the merger with a final four and a national championship.  I'd gladly take an NIT trip every 3rd or 4th year in exchange for a final 4 & national championship.

That's true, plus, it would give us on the message boards something to complain about and fight over.

Nice to see 2 CUSA teams in the top 5.  Imagine where Cinci would be if Nancy Zimpher didn't fire Huggins to simply pad her own resume...

... would they be 72 and 46 (WVU current record)?
