Hope he's enjoyin' the weather.

Pretty sure he's well versed in Milwaukee weather.

If a 'ship becomes available, he is the first one I would prefer.  Local kid, high major, next PG of the future.

Getting him could also be crucial in landing PF Diamond Stone.. 6'9" Frosh, also plays for Dominican... if you get a chance, go watch Dominican play this year, a truly fun team to watch in the state of Wisconsin.

Wisconsin High School Basketball might be at a peak right now with talent/good teams... the state games will be a blast to attend this year.

Nice highlight reel for Duane here:  http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TVm9r68YzSk

Sure seems like a really solid player.  Can pass, shoot, drive...looks athletic.

Also happens to be Jamil's cousin.....

I saw him play a few weeks ago. Was impressed with Wilson and Taylor. Both very smooth, nothing rattles them; they just let the game come to them and don't force anything. Stone, on the other hand, seemed bored and beyond low energy. I've seen Stone play a few times this year and if he had half of the energy as the scrubs they bring off the bench, he would be unstoppable. His physical talent is undeniable, especially as a freshman. Would love to see some passion.

Based on the scholarship chart, are all our scholarships filled up for the next 3 years? Next year's class, Burton, and then no scholarships the year after? Obviously there can be a lot of turnover, but based on how it stands now am I reading that right, or giving Otule an extra year?

I agree, at times Stone gets lost... but you always have to keep in the back of your mind - this is a 14 year old kid... My guess is he isn't used to his 6'9" frame.

I'm not sure what the scholarship chart says, but if we have no turnover (very unlikely) and Otule stays/is given an extra year, in 2014 we would have 5 scholarships to give out.  Jones, Otule, Gardner, Blue, and Wilson would all have just graduated.

Wilson's tweet.

TWWWWITTTERRR TRRACKA!

Had a good visit at Marquette. It was something different. Loved the academic side though.

Yup.  He's very young.  As he gets older and mature he will start playing more and more possessions like he will need to to succeed in college.

As far as not being used to his frame, I have heard he has been quite big for a while (considering he is only 14), and that that is why he is so good, because he's not just awkwardly running around clumsily due to a recent growth spurt.  Not sure on that though.

Boone

We'll have a scholarship for either Wilson or another point guard. No way do we go into the 2013-14 season w/o another point guard on the roster.

Warriors 79

Agree with Boone. The word "though" at the end of his tweet is a bit bothersome.  Does that mean the "something different" was a bad thing?  Hmmm..maybe he does not like the work that will be involved, but his passing skills and overall versatility would make him a natural at the point for Buzz.  Come to Marquette, DW, Jr. and follow your cuz'  !!
"I went into a restaurant one night and ordered lobster, and the waiter brought me one with a claw missing. He told me that in the back there's a tank they keep the lobsters in and while they're in there, they fight and sometimes one loses a claw. I told him to bring me a winner."  Al McGuire

cheebs09

I don't think it means much. Maybe all of his other visits have been centered around practices and games, and this time he sat through study hall and tutor sessions. It could mean that the other schools he's gone to are centered around the games and practices, and we showed him the academic side. I take it as a very positive tweet.

Skatastrophy

I remember Buzz saying something about how his recruiting is always around making kids into men and getting them a good education at Marquette and that he doesn't really talk to them about basketball.  I'd guess that most coaches (like cheebs said) don't take that tack with it :)

True. I remember seeing him at the beginning of 7th grade when he played for Tosa East and he was already 6' 6". His wing span right now is unbelievable.

7th grader playing for Tosa East?  Very Interesting.

He didn't play for the high school.  He probably meant the Tosa East middle school travel team that either state champs, or runner up.  Can't recall which.

If we land him, we undoubtedly would lead the nation in Wilsons.

If we land him who is leaving?  Anderson, Derrick Wilson, or Jamil Wilson!
