Buzz Williams: The man can flat-out coach. Marquette has won six straight games and is second in the Big East with a 7-2 league record. And the Golden Eagles are doing it with roster filled with junior college transfers (Darius Johnson-Odom and Jae Crowder) and mid-tier high school recruits (Todd Mayo and Davante Gardner). Not many coaches get as much out of their players as Williams.

MattyWarrior

Kind of a back handed complement, especially to the players. How many student athletes come out of high school as finished players? It seems ESPN only ranks players that go to certain schools as 4 stars.

The Lens

Isn't it true?

Our top recruits (Junior & Vander) aren't huge keys to our current success.  2 Top 100s have left (E Williams & Maymon) and another barely sees the court (Jones).

We are doing it with Jucos and un-heralded guys.

Yea,its true, I think Buzz is a great motivator and well on his way to being a very good coach, I just don't like that misfit toys
reference and general second tier press that we usually get from ESPN.

I have no problem with the "misfit toys" reference.   It means that Buzz finds good talent where others may miss it and coaches the hell out of it.     Butler.  JUCO that nobody else wanted.   Jae.   Had 3 pts and 4 fouls the night Buzz saw him.   DG.   330 lbs.    Mayo.   Underappreciated prep.    DJO.   On him so that when he became eligible earlier than anticipated, Buzz could swoop in first.      Buycks/Wilson.   Wanted to come back home.     All have represented MU well.    All have improved under Buzz's coaching.     Some might take misfit toys as a disparaging remark.    I think it is a huge compliment to Buzz and his abilities.

also made a funny comment about everyone's favorite, Jim Burr...
"D: Officiating: Saturday's snafu in the West Virginia-Syracuse game only highlighted what's been a down year for college basketball officials. I can't remember a season when I've seen so many blown calls -- or no-calls. And the crazy thing is that none of them have involved Jim Burr. I'm not sure what the problem is, but these guys need to get better."

speaking of Burr, he just T'd up Draymond Green in the MSU-Illinois game for tossing his hands up and walking away after a charging call. Made a huge show of it in front of the U of I bench... what a turd. def knows when the cameras are rolling.
