Very glad to see that Buzz left Junior in on the defensive end of the court today rather than the over substituting.  I thought Junior had a heck of a game all around and played tough D.  Even though a couple shots didn't fall they were good looks.

didn't think he created for his teamates in the half-court, didn't think he held his defender honest in the half-court, didn't like that a starting pg missed 2 ft at the end of the game.  i thought junior was going to play much better this year.  he attacks the rim very well by using his frame, wish he'd do it more in the half-court...

Wilson's foul situation played a large part in that decision.

  • Junior had 6 assists and one turnover today.  Also had two tough and excellent steals where he muscled the ball and stopped Nova runs./li]
    • MU is 16-2 when Junior has 5 or more assists in the game.  Think about that.
    • Fans need to really understand his value getting the offense to run.  That said, he struggles vs. a zone as he needs to hit a J.
    • The kid is tough, despite his limitations.  Fact is, with Buzz wanting to press the ball, he needs blow by help.  This is where he misses CO

I thought that when we had DJO, Blue and Mayo out there, the offense stagnated.   Much better ball movement with Junior in.  But we will probably still see that combo more often in weeks to come, as  DWilson's defense was no better than Junior's today.   The only thing that upset me was watching Junior shoot the 3 off of the dribble.   Very few can make the three off of the dribble/pull up, and he hasn't shown himself to be one of the few.

By memory in the last few minutes Cadougan made two free throws, missed two free throws and then made two free throws.

This is very well put.  The offense just looks like it flows better when he is in the game.  With Wilson or Blue, it just looks more ragged.

This fan is a bit surprised that there have been no comments on Wilson starting. More importantly, despite our collective wisdom, it took Coach Williams to figure out the best rotation. It all worked last night because the Warriors are a better team with Gardner coming off the bench. For the first time since  Otule went down, the team looked "right." One can discuss bent knees, energy, defense setting-up offense until the proverbial cows come home. But, in a sense, everything comes revolves around the rotation (pun intended). It might well be that the Warriors are re-booted and ready  for the Big East.
