Obviously not gonna happen if McBuckets is in the game but if he sees the bench for a rest or any sort of foul trouble I can see Buzz going with a massive lineup of Derrick, Todd/Jake, Jamil, Ox and Otule.

I really hope not. It will be hard enough to hide one of them when Creighton has 5 on the perimeter, let alone both.

No.  Davante is nothing but a post.  It was a mistake from the beginning.

ChitownSpaceForRent

I guess my thought process was hopefully it would prevent the inevitable double team on Davante.

CTWarrior

I think Oxtule could be part of an effective line-up, but not against Creighton.  Need quickness to guard them all over the floor.

No it makes it worse.  You clog the lane with Otule in there because he is no threat to score.  It's better to keep Gardner on the floor with outside threats like Jake, Jamil and Todd.

Agree.  Since both Chris and Davante play best close to the hoop, you end up with both essentially being double teamed whenever they get the ball in scoring position...and they're usually too close together for one to pass to the other when the double team comes.  This has often led to Davante going to the perimeter and shooting 3s...not exactly his strength.

TAMU, Knower of Ball

There are times when oxtule is effective. Chris can seal off defenders in the paint and give Davante room to manuever.

Creighton is not one of those times. There will never be less than 4 3P shooters on the floor at a time.

I do know, Newsie is right on you knowing ball.

Is there a statistic for "seal-off" points per possession for players? Without getting too lost in the details, I'm looking for a statistic that measures points in the paint that are a direct result from an offensive player preventing a defender from stopping the ball.  Otule does it every now and then, but I wonder how truly valuable that part of his game is--obviously other areas of his game are valuable such as being a big body and generally clogging up the lane as a defender.

Much more valuable when we had players like Vander and DJO.

Well, Sultan, you have admitted that Buzz made a mistake. Unusual, is it not?
I thought you were dead. Willie lives rent free in Reekers mind. Rick Pitino: "You can either complain or adapt."

It is no coincidence that we started playing better when Buzz stopped using that lineup......

Defensively, especially against Creighton, this would be a complete disaster.

Totally agree, which is why I thought his injury in 2011-2012 season took us from potentially an all-time great MU team to a very very good MU team

setyoursightsnorth

Put him in and make him play the whole 40 minute game.

AirPunches

No I think Otule had trouble stepping out on wragge last time. However, if memory serves correct chris was one of the few to come to play that day.
