The Penn State that Fitzgerald aspired to no longer exists. You could argue that it never did. Prior statements about the wonderful tradition Pat would be joining are meaningless.

Not to mention when Fitzgerald made comments, he was making 750K, his recent extension bumped him up to $1.8mm per for the next 10 years.  I really don't see him leaving.  The university has invested alot in him and he's got that program coming back to a good place.

Fitzgerald turned down Michigan and ND, I don't think he goes near PSU. I don't think any top tier coach takes the PSU job. Some young second tier guys takes it as a stepping stone to something better.

Fitzgerald does more with less than any other coach in a BCS conference. He's not leaving NU for that cesspool. Recruiting to Penn State will be next to impossible. How many here would send their son there to play football now? Besides, do you really care to shower in the PSU locker room now?

The inverse of ND football. I love it.

Per Darren Rovell:

@darrenrovell Bodog odds for next coach of Penn St.: Urban Meyer 2/1, Al Golden 9/2, Mike London 5/1, Kevin Sumlin 11/2, Pat Fitzgerald 6/1

Meyer left a nice gig in Florida due to health.  I can't see him even sniffing at this job.  Golden could be a candidate.  Because of his prior ties to PSU and the cesspool he found out existed, after he started coaching there, at Miami are the reasons.
