Hmmm...it's like I just re-read the press release...

You do understand what a press release is, right?

I've said it before, and I'll say it again...the MJS beat writer has three jobs:  1) get "news" out as quickly as possible; 2) features and other in-depth stuff on recruiting and the program; and 3) game stories.

Enlund is doing just fine on the first two, and we'll see about the third this weekend.  Marquette issued a press-release, and Enlund (as a dutiful member of the press) published it.  That's how these things work.  Can't fault him for doing exactly what Marquette wanted him to do when it sent out the release.  He performed function No. 1 flawlessly.  Let's see if he follows up with No. 2 (as he has quite well in the past).

I still don't understand why some people have such an issue with Enlund.

I am guessing Tom will do a piece on all 4 once they are all signed. Only waiting on Aaron now.
But I like to throw handfuls...

Yeah, I know what a press release is...I just think it's kinda lazy reporting to just reprint the press release.  I just read the press release from MU's website, and then I see the jsonline blog, read that, and IT'S THE SAME EXACT THING!!

You guys are way over the top on this Enlund guy. He's doing great and, frankly, more than Rosiak did.

So let me get this straight....you are criticizing for getting information out as quickly as possible, in this case repeating the MU press release, and not going above and beyond in the first 20 minutes.
Luke 6:45   ...A good man produces goodness from the good in his heart; an evil man produces evil out of his store of evil.   Each man speaks from his heart's abundance...

I guess I was just annoyed to have read the same story twice.  Thought I might get something different.

Wow. Tough crowd. Enlund appears to be in a lose / lose around these parts.

Enlund's been doing a great job.  What is he supposed to do, blow up the phone of a kid in school and the kids parents?  Give him some time to talk to the recruits and/or parents  this evening in an orderly way, and publish a story.  It doesn't have to be immediate.

+1, I guess TR never posted a press release?  I'm sure MU is very happy that JS is not only doing  a number of well written stories on this years team, but also publishing their press releases.  I guess if people don't like reading the same story twice, they could complain with JS to stop publishing the press releases on their site/in their newspaper.  By nature a press release is just that...

That's what a press release is...Marquette sends it out, and asks the MSJ to publish it.  Apparently it upsets you when Enlund does exactly what Marquette asks him to do. It's not his fault that Marquette decides to publish the same information.  Sucks for him:  Marquette sends him a press release and asks that he publish it; he does so; Marquette also publishes it; some Marquette fans bitch at Enlund because Marquette intentionally "scooped" him.

I guess his other option would be to not post the news because Marquette already has; that way people wouldn't complain that he's lazy.  Of course, that wouldn't serve his employer's customers very well (most of whom probably aren't checking the Marquette athletics site), but who gives a crap about them...he's got to keep the MUScoop readers happy.

Agree...he did four articles on Durley alone, which is four more than the JS did for Taylor and Burton, two kids right down the street. Todd did a great job, but I am excited to get an NBA guy on the beat. I'd rather his copy jockey immediately post the press release while he is spends time interviewing the newly inked recruiting class.

I want the story re-worded! And I want it tomorrow! And I want generic quotes from Jamal and Buzz saying how happy they are to have the LOI signed! Where's Rosiak? CHANGE IS BAD!!!
